I must go and check my Russian dictionaries. Apparently "respect" means something different than it does around here.

Definitely long past "in the making". I built a Soviet-style mausoleum with his name on it back in 2001…

It has worked in the past, why should Putin have to come up with something new if there is a tested formula ?

He's promoting a healthy lifestyle, is not healthy you don't respect the Vlad.

Allen – my guess is that "respect" and "fear" are listed as co-equals in the Russian dictionary.

Reminds me of the old story about the American and the Russian Soviet citizen debating which country was better. The American says, "In my country, we have freedom of speech. I can go stand in front of the White House and shout, 'The President of the United States is an idiot!' and the government will do nothing to me at all."
"So?" says the Russian. "It is no different in the Soviet Union. I can go to the center of Red Square and shout, 'The President of the United States is an idiot!' and my government won't do anything to me either."
