In light of this news, Jack Nicholson should join Mr. Corman onstage on Oscar night, since the latter gave him some notable screen time: YouTube link YouTube link Congrats, Mr. Corman, and thanks for the memorable movies! |

Excellent news! I've been a fan of Mr. Corman's films since about age 8. |

They could probably fill the stage if they brought up all the now-famous folks who got a leg up in their early years working with/for the man. He had a huge effect on U.S. film industry. Also, from friends who know him, he appears to be a genuinely nice guy. |

Good for him – he's certainly earned some sort of lifetime achievement recognition for his contributions to pop culture, cinema, and my childhood. :) *applause* -Alex |

Not only did he make some of the most memorable B-movies in history, he also financed several A-movies as well and gave many great directors their first chance to do a movie. |

I saw a TV item about him once and it had several memorable moments. They started by showing the Ferrari, Merc and Porsche-laden carparks of the major studios, then showed the aging clunkers in the Corman carpark. The most memorable bit was where a lighting cameraman was describing a night shoot at an airfield where Roger had not hired enough lights. They called him and said 'we need more lights'. He answered 'What? none of you guys have cars?" They ran down the crew's car batteries using the headlights and Roger generously sprung to call the AAA to get them started again. |
