Nope, can't call this one a great idea. If I were a parent at this school, I'd pay the teacher $20 USD to give my kid the grade he earned.

I'm willing to bet it would have raised less money than selling chocolates. Lack of motivation, both student and parent in many cases, is more of a problem than lack of funding. And lack of funding is a BIG problem.

Falsifying grades for money is S.O.P. around here – the regs call for constant improvement in the schools, or the Fed money gets cut. Infinite improvement is impossible, therefore…

Charging the kids directly is a bit crass, though.
