Went in for my annual eye check-up yesterday, and they found one of these on my left eye.

They couldn't find any cause, but noticed that it was pulling on my eye slightly, decreasing my vision from 20:25 (with glasses) to 20:30. However, it isn't causing any vision distortion that I could detect.

I go back in six months to see if there's any change. If it gets really bad, surgery can remove it. But for now, it's just a minor nuisance.

It sounds dirty…

Even more so if you say it fast, 3X…
I might even start using it in anger.

I'm told it used to be called a cellophane macularopathy.

The missus has severe macular edema, caused by her HBP, diabetes, etc. Bad enough that the first opthalmologist couldn't do laser surgery on it. Referred to a retinal specialist, wgho would probably reduce the edema first with steroid injections, but she broke her leg two days before that appointment! So still waiting to see.

Any idea what the underlying cause might be?

Staring too closely at outdated source code. Does it to me everytime :)

Apologies for not wishing you well in my previous post. Eyesight – probably the most valuable (& under appreciated) of the senses. Dean

I agree, I too hope it gets checked before it gets worse.

Aye I have the same thing in my right eye .. annual check ups now .. damn .. And I have significant retinal thinning in the left eye that will not improve until there's a hole at which point surgery will be required! Fun!

To those folks who don't bother painting eyes: any room for an ex-eye painter?
