Some DII schools have very un D-1 like standards and rules, and some of the teams are nothing more than private unafilliated farm teams for National basketball players, etc. D-11 NCAA tennis had ridiculous teams. Schools no one ever heard of, from states no one has heard of, showing up in Florida, to play major college tennis programs. They all had one thing in common, all had (usually 23-24year old plus) Foreign Pro tour Satalite or ATP Circuit players coming out of nowhere. (chance for marginal pros, and fairly new pros time, expenses and opportunities in the US during the Satalite series events. Sucked. You end up playing some 25 year old Finn who has 2 wins over Wilander that year showing up, playing a match or two, then dissapearing.
Tyler, TX, Troy? Valdosta St.? Pella University, Sacramento St., Hampton? I'm talking 'bout you! And depends on "exhibition". A real game, just unofficial, or some entertainment event, like when D-1 schools play that "TEAM USA", a Christian charity team of former NBArs, etc.
Never heard of "LeMone"? Is that "Lemone"? French, so Loiusiana catholic school? Or "Lemone" like "Lamont", "Demone" and "Tyrone", and thus a small urban school outside of Watts? :) :) :) |

Lemoyne "Dolphins" is an inner City D-II school. link Smokey, Sorry but I have never heard of a D-II basketball program having a bunch of ringers -- especially older ringers. Their roster looks 'typical' for this kind of program: link Le Moyne College, located in Syracuse, N.Y., is an independent college established by the Jesuits in 1946 to provide students with a values-based, comprehensive academic program designed to foster intellectual excellence and preparation for a life of leadership and service. Today, Le Moyne has evolved into a nationally acclaimed college of liberal arts and sciences that draws students from across the U.S. and abroad. Jesuit schools do not tolerate academic slackers. That has been an issue at Gonzaga -- some players just cannot cut it academically. Nope this looks like a big big upset. I was hoping someone might have seen this game. mjc |

Wasn't impuning Jesuit college athletic ethics, BTW. Just guessing from the name of the school it was Jesuit. ;) Quid, I have. Many of the Florida D-II programs, wealthy private schools, have all sorts of "renegades" from the International leagues. Some Universities have entire programs and coach from one country (Barry, Lynn?). NAIA used to own the "Foreign Farm League" programs, but it spread to D-11 (and D-1).
Hell, the high schools down here are becoming International sports franchises. Some 1A private school no one has ever heard of in the Glades has several 6'-10+" African National Teams hoopsters! (All the elite college programs are at this school to recruit!") Always wanted to start a charter school, hire a foreign Conduit guy in some position, get a pipeline, and create my own private Ashanti or Zulu Warband! (revenue from the colleg/pro athletes we produce, and political power you can only get by having a 1,000 guys with sheilds and assegais drill in perfect order, shouting support for some important local/personal issue.
Like those protected mangroves out back and my proposed dock that is getting the red tape special?. I bet an Impi would get it expediated. Yes, I really think like that. :( |

So . . . would you be the only white guy in the impi? Seriously, I know there are programs that rely heavily on foreign players. Gonzaga has 4 from Canada and one from Germany. I also know there are 'high school programs' that are nothing other than basketball mills. I don't know anything about Lemoyne but having attended Gonzaga (and sent my kids to Jesuit Schools) I know a bit about Jesuit education. They expect academic performance at a level well beyond that found at places like Oklahoma (got a degree from there too), community service (a pretty fair committment -- 2-3 weeks a year), and conformity with the goals of the university (which oddly may not be entirely 'Jesuit oriented' – but often revolves around 'social justice' criteria). On the flip side, Gonzaga in particular has excellent instructors that are expected to interact a great deal with their students and assist them to attain their goals (unlike the usual tenured professor at the larger universities that couldn't care less if you attend class, live, or die). Not a good place for the marginal student or a basket ball player that doesn't want to do anything else but 'ball'. mjc |

Gonzaga really wanted me to go their for Law School. Lookled good, except I don't like rain, cold, cold water, and love sun and warm water. And they had a bad sample of girls in law school, at least. No Tri-delt blondes getting JD's there, I'll tell you what.

They had girls in their law school? When was that? Typically, before . . . . 2000 they might graduate three or four women from their Law School out of about 100. Now I guess it's over 50%. |

I was at the game. I won't put the Dolphins down because they played their hearts out. Syracuse played man to man the complete game. If I remember correctly, they never played their 2-3 zone. The funny part was during my lunch break on game day I went to get a haircut and two Lemoyne players came in. One was a starting guard and the other was the 6th man. They talked about playing hard, etc. but they didn't figure they would win the game. |
