I listened to the first episode yesterday, and I quite liked it. Even the girlfriend, who hates SF, thought it was pretty good. I think it stays true to the original but of course (not hard to beat) much better and less cheesy. I I would've like a cameo or a role for Michael Ironside, though.

Anyone else watched it?

Inkpaduta04 Nov 2009 10:35 a.m. PST

I liked too. Wasn't deep drama and the plot is straight forward. But the acting was good and it held my attention.

Irish Marine04 Nov 2009 10:38 a.m. PST

It wasn't bad I will watch it again tonight the wife and the baby were hogging for attention last night but it looked good and I have high hopes it will be a good show.

Meh…

lugal hdan04 Nov 2009 12:43 p.m. PST

Not too bad. Certainly no worse than the original. I'm going to watch it again.

Steve Hazuka04 Nov 2009 2:39 p.m. PST

I like the updates. SyFy has been running the originals so I could compare. God those episodes were bad….

kyoteblue04 Nov 2009 2:52 p.m. PST

Not so much..

StarfuryXL504 Nov 2009 3:16 p.m. PST

According to tvguide.com, ABC is doing a Syfy. They're airing four episodes now, then the balance after the Olympics.

jpattern204 Nov 2009 3:43 p.m. PST

No worse than the original, but then, I can't stand the original. I won't be watching any more.

Lots of differing opinions here:

As for me . . . V has provided "hope"! I am definitely going to be a watcher. :)

Compared to Biggest Loser, Dancing with the Stars or Survivor Cleveland, it's Emmy worthy. Compared to District 9 or most of BSG, it's OK.

The pace is faster than the original, that is, events covered in several episodes of the original series, are now done in one showing. I do like the "sleeper cells". Look forward to next week.

iouliared05 Nov 2009 8:14 a.m. PST

Does anyone know if they will rerun the 1st eppy soon this week? I missed it.

Old Slow Trot05 Nov 2009 8:17 a.m. PST

Didn't get home in time. Would've liked to checked it out.

Here you go, full episode: link

EDIT: Okay, will be watchable Nov. 7

iouliared05 Nov 2009 5:40 p.m. PST

Thanks guy.

Well its not like they are working with great source material like A&E was when they butchered the "updated" version of Andromeda Strain. That was a bad as anything SyFy has cranked out.

It just isn't that hard to improve on 70's sci-fi schlockfests like Battlecart Impractica and V. Wonder who is going to do the remake of Manimal? evil grin

Here's a positive review of the show:

BTW over 18 million people tuned in according to ABC. Don't know if that includes DVR but that's American Idolesque numbers.

bandit8608 Nov 2009 4:19 a.m. PST

It was Ok, I liked how they were able to lay all the blames for todays woes on the Visitor. Pres Bush, Dick Channey Bernnie Madoff(sp)and all the rest,Yup Aliens.
The Cute Blonde and Morina Bacarin make it very watchable.

Did anyone else notice Jewele Staite in the crowd (another firefly alumni)

Delthos09 Nov 2009 2:39 p.m. PST

Um, bandit86, those people can't be aliens. All of the aliens are beautiful people. It's one of the reasons the reporter got picked for the job.

Didn't notice Jewel though. I'll have to watch it again watch for her.

I liked it and hope it gains legs and it does well. This first episode moved very fast but I think if they slow it down just a little and add a little more detail it will be fine.

bandit8609 Nov 2009 10:07 p.m. PST

Delthos: Jewel is in the crowd when the boys are waiting to board the shuttle to the mothership. Good point about the beautiful people, that being said I am not sure that Alan Tudyk(sp)would be one of the "beautiful people" and he was an alien. No offence meant to Mr Tudyk.
