TMP polls are getting dry – there is one, pressing question that has not yet been subject to a poll here: how many TMPers are moustachioed?

A moustache is a paradox; simultaneously a sign of being unpretentious, down to earth, honest but also mysterious and other-worldly.

I am not moustachioed but I would dearly love to be able to grow a walrus style 'tache. But whenever I have tried I ended up looking like a walking advert for Gay Pride.

So, come on, Bill, lets have a poll we can all enjoy – Do you have a moustache? And what style is it?

Jay Arnold04 Nov 2009 6:13 a.m. PST

On occasion, as a source of irony in martial settings. Longest I went with a cookie duster was probably a three-week period while languishing in the wilds of Pseudo-Afghanistan at Ft. Chaffee.

jdpintex04 Nov 2009 6:16 a.m. PST

Yep. Grew it in 1983 and it's still there, albeit it's getting gray.

ming3104 Nov 2009 6:27 a.m. PST

Yes, A hairy catapillar under my nose

Personal logo Gungnir Supporting Member of TMP04 Nov 2009 6:31 a.m. PST

Yes, to match my beard.

Last time I shaved was '79, I think.

Last shower was a bit more recent.

"TMP polls are getting dry"

My sister-in-law asked me yesterday why all the adult males in this country are circumcised.

Steve

RavenscraftCybernetics04 Nov 2009 6:42 a.m. PST

did you tell her why?

Photonred04 Nov 2009 6:52 a.m. PST

And did you ask her how she knows ALL adult males in the US are circumcised she certainly didn't check me 8-P

Sounds like it would be even more exciting that this 2003 classic: TMP link

However, to initiate a poll, you need to make the request here: TMP link

Old Slow Trot04 Nov 2009 7:28 a.m. PST

Every few weeks or so.then I shave it off.

Rattlehead04 Nov 2009 7:34 a.m. PST

I wish I could grow a nice funky mustache… Something I could really work on. Maybe a big brushy one, or a Fu Manchu or something…

Alas, my facial hair has limitations. It's quick to grow, but falters in the "scruffy teen" stage…

I'm 33 and when I shave I look 12. When I don't shave, I look 13.

Klebert L Hall04 Nov 2009 7:41 a.m. PST

Sort of.

ArchiducCharles04 Nov 2009 7:43 a.m. PST

Hell no!

The girlfriend would leave me on the spot! I did spent the last 8 years with a "pinch" that I shaved recently, but no 'stache for me.

Altius04 Nov 2009 8:11 a.m. PST

As my photo demonstrates, I abjure facial hair of all kinds. However, I used to have a magnificent 'stache throughout the late 80s and early 90s. Then, in 1999 I tried one of those mustache/beard combos that were in fashion at the time. I kept that for about a year until my kid told me I looked like the devil. Except for getting a bit whiskery on the weekends, I've been shaving it off since then.

Andrew Walters04 Nov 2009 8:32 a.m. PST

Had. At various times.

Andrew

Kayl MacLaren04 Nov 2009 8:39 a.m. PST

Yes, and a few years back I grew a beard as well, to simulate a jawline :(

Rich Trevino04 Nov 2009 8:43 a.m. PST

I have huge "Burnside" muttonchops that are connected to the 'stache by looping around my cheeks.

Okay, maybe I don't- but ONE day…

The Native American blood really shows through when I try to grow facial hair.

Cacique Caribe04 Nov 2009 8:43 a.m. PST

You mean on my upper lip? No.

CC
PS. Eyebrows keep trying to meet these days though. What's up with that?

Streitax04 Nov 2009 8:53 a.m. PST

Never had enough facial hair to grow either a decent mustache or a decent beard.

Tommy2004 Nov 2009 9:20 a.m. PST

Not currently. I rotate having one and not every five years or so. The last one included a soul patch, as I was heavily into ACW reenacting at the time. I guess I'm about due to grow it back.

Pictors Studio04 Nov 2009 9:40 a.m. PST

I shave every day, especially my upper lip. It would be wrong not too.

kyoteblue04 Nov 2009 9:43 a.m. PST

Yes the mustache was grown in May of 1973 and I have had it since.

The Nigerian Lead Minister04 Nov 2009 9:47 a.m. PST

No. Native American bloodline keeps the facial hair sparse and unworthy of uncontrolled growth, although what little I do have seems to grow at triple speed due to some exceptionally hairy north European ancestor. Upshot, I always have a five o'clock shadow, and I can't actually grow a beard or moustache.

Space Monkey04 Nov 2009 10:13 a.m. PST

I had a Van Dyke thing going on during part of my hippy/bohemian phase… in fact, I might not be done with the hippy/bohemian phase, but I'm done with the facial hair.

Daffy Doug04 Nov 2009 10:21 a.m. PST

Is this a trick question?…

kidbananas04 Nov 2009 10:28 a.m. PST

I've had a goatee ever since the wife left in '96.

Roderick Robertson Fezian04 Nov 2009 10:44 a.m. PST

Only as part of a full beard.

Henrix04 Nov 2009 11:21 a.m. PST

Yes. With a few variations for quite a few years now.

Bob Hume04 Nov 2009 11:46 a.m. PST

Yes, since 72 or so. Been in police work since 76. It's a requirement. 8^)

quidveritas04 Nov 2009 11:59 a.m. PST

Grew a beard shortly after I left the RAF, still got it.

Company D Miniatures04 Nov 2009 12:07 p.m. PST

Circumcision- in the U.K. if you enquire as to whether someones circumcised or not you ask:- ' are you a cavalier or a roundhead'

T Callahan04 Nov 2009 12:32 p.m. PST

have had a mustache for 30 years or so. Shaved it off once, started growing it back two weeks later.

Terry

AndrewGPaul04 Nov 2009 12:34 p.m. PST

Eyebrows keep trying to meet these days though. What's up with that?

You been hanging out with suspicious Transylvanians? That's a sign of vampirism. grin

I tried once, over a fortnight off. The results weren't pretty, and it itched.

lugal hdan04 Nov 2009 12:46 p.m. PST

I briefly grew a beard back in the 90's, but I didn't really like the way it felt, so "No" would be my answer.

GoodBye04 Nov 2009 1:54 p.m. PST

Yes, yes I do.

Rattlehead04 Nov 2009 3:10 p.m. PST

I'm seeing that I'm not alone in my reason for no serious facial hair. I've got some Native American's in my own bloodline, which I believe is the reason for my non-beardy-ness.

pmwalt Supporting Member of TMP04 Nov 2009 4:38 p.m. PST

Yep -- had it a little over a year

Regrebnelle04 Nov 2009 8:25 p.m. PST

Aye… included free with purchase of goatee.

Andrew Paul: "You been hanging out with suspicious Transylvanians? That's a sign of vampirism."

I've only known one Rumanian in my life, but she was HOT.

That might explain why I work best at night!

goragrad05 Nov 2009 12:20 a.m. PST

Mustache for about 30 years (except for when the chemo did for pretty much all the hair – always regretted not having gotten a few pictures). Beard for much of that time. Got rid of the beard about a year and a half ago – my sister-in-law tells me I look ten years younger, my nieces miss it.

bloodeagle05 Nov 2009 1:05 a.m. PST

Yep

Ed Mohrmann05 Nov 2009 4:38 a.m. PST

Yes, a nice 'Walrus' type. Had it since 1969…

Lentulus05 Nov 2009 3:21 p.m. PST
