But how would we know what to think? How to vote? Who to support? Without them we are sheep without shepherds, cattle without ranglers, cats without catherders. Why, our entire system of government would collapse without them, not to mention the economy – who else would pay those yayhoos that kind of money to sit and bloviate and congratulate each other on how much smarter they are than the common man or woman? |

They are like weathermen. They are very good at explaining what happened. Usually, to match their own agenda. Not too good at predicting. |

Not Blue Fez material, no politics, just mocking the idiots who pontificate on politics. |

Doesn't seem inherently fezzie to me. |

Almost all of them do have a bias. however, there are some who are extremely insightful. I am very impressed with Charles Krauthammer. Thanks, John |

I think political commentators only agenda is to make themselves more interesting to get the next gig. Usually that entails taking extreme or unpopular views one way or the other. I saw a documentary recently that showed some political commentators political views before and after their "careers". Talk about swing votes! Steve |

I like hearing political analysis
who did what and why they probably did it
it's a lot more interesting to me than other sports like football and baseball. It's always best though, if I can hear a wide ranging set of opinions
and to steer clear of the ones who really are just pushing some party line. I also hate the shows where, to be 'balanced' they just line up nutjobs from opposing sides and let them yell at each other for 5 minutes. It seems though, that if you're looking to get folks on your show to talk about such things it's way easier to get the nutjobs and mouthpieces
guys trying to schlep their books
than it is the real experts who aren't seeking out those 5 minutes of limelight. |

Some analysis is good and I find enjoyable to listen too. But all too often they just repeat what someone else has said or just the "party" line on what happened. What I miss are just plain news shows. Just tell me what happened and let me reach my own conclusions. Frankly, most of them are just giving their opinion NOT their insightful knowledge as claimed. |

A properly labeled political cheerleader/whistle-blower/name-caller is at least partially honest. The ones who hide among journalists give both professions a bad rep. They hide amongst other professions as well, but going into details will get fezzie quickly. |

I thot "politics" was a bleeped word on TMP? We can't discuss which columnists/commentators we like/dislike because that would bring in the bleeped word; and calling one of them or more idiots is risking a DHing on the grounds of personal attacks: what if someone on TMP has Krauthammer as an uncle/brother et al. relative?

They used to be called pundits, because they had a wide range of opinions on a wider range of topics and everything and everybody was fair game. Now, so many of them look at only one side of every issue that nothing they say makes any sense, the aforementioned only-named example one of the worse among a bad lot. If a politician from party A says something, it's heaven sent. If a politician from party B says the exact same thing, he's a devil worshipper. I don't pay any attention to any of them, and even less to their most ardent followers. I don't trust extremists of any kind. JW |
