So the wife and I were walking down the beach and she found a small crab shell top. Kind of like this but about the size of quarter. link My wife wants to make it into a ring but the shell is so fragile that it will never survive it. I was thinking of perhaps adding clear resin around it to make it stronger, but is there anything else that would be good for this project? |

Is it just the top side or is it hollow in the middle with empty leg holes? If it's just the top I can't see much to do but resin coat it. This stuff is pretty easy to use for jewelry purposes: link |

Or take it to a taxidermist that does fish. He can reproduce it in a material that will last a very long time. Probably better than anything you can do -- if it's going to be special, might be worth spending a couple bucks on it. mjc |
