Look at this classless move : YouTube link Now, I know a lot of things happen in a pile, but to go for the eyes like that? Gutless. In another example of why I so strongly dislike Meyer, that got Spikes a first half suspension (in most program/conferences a game suspension would have been given). It seems the SEC agrees with the punishment. Half a game, are you kidding me?! |

Y'know if Florida wins out and takes the BCS title again I sure hope the NCAA is proud of its champs. Between things like this and the earlier referee misconduct it will be a tainted title at best. |

That kind of stuff disgusts me. That was just a blatent attempt to injure another player. No way you can try and justify that action. |

I never had much opinion about Florida either way. I have a new favorite team every Saturday know, that team is playing the Gators. |

Actually, this is a banner year for the gators (fewest arrests under Meyer) BTW, a 6'-7" U of Tulsa End did that to me in both eyes, while biting the back of my neck! Hurts! NEVER fight anyone in Oklahoma, especially in the Cherokee Nation!!!!
(Good thing I happened to have an assegai close at hand, and a 6-2" wife that likes to jump in brawls) ;) Seriously. I stabbed him, then my wife flying dropkicked him through a deck railing and down a mountain side! :) Yehaw! |

After the face masking delivered on the kick return prior to Spikes offense..he shoulda done a better job of hiding it. And if you think your teams are above these kind of antics
.ya'll just ain't been caught on camera. Do I think it was the right thing to do? No. But I can understand why he did it. Things were different under Coach Spurrier, less thugs and tighter control of the ones we had. Now our team looks and plays more like old skool Miami or FSU. But it gets us wins and in these days it seems, that's all it matters. |

As I said, stuff happen in the pile. There's tons of way to retaliate without resorting to something that might cripple someone for life. Eyes are not fair game, ever. As for the "win at all cost" argument, well other programs who also want to win at all cost control their players and punish them (I mean for real) when they do those kind of acts. |

Urban Meyer just confirming he's a chump. 1/2 a game? "I don't want to punish the rest of the team." Grow a pair Urban. Call the Oregon head coach and he'll show you how! |

Yeah, but didn't they cut short most of that OR player's suspension? |
| ArchiducCharles | 03 Nov 2009 1:07 p.m. PST |
Most? Well he still missed 7 games of an original 12 games suspension
compare that to 1/2 games. It was a harsh suspension to be honest. I think Oregon made their point. |

PS it was a cardboard blade on the asseigai, I was a Zulu for Halloween at the party, and it was part of my costume. Still hurt him when I jabbed him in the throat with it. :) |

I am sure this is not going to be a popular opinion but this is just another case of American Style Football being run by sissies. This kind of stuff has always gone on. Heck Dick Butkus use to bite people while on the bottom of the pile. How do you think Larry Csonka got so pretty? This is football, American football Dang it. That's part of the game. The secret is, don't get caught at the bottom or on camera doing it. |

No, blinding people is not part of the game. In the era when clotheslines and horsecollars were legal, when there was no roughing the passer (or the kicker), when flying wedge belts were still legal
even then eye-gouging was against the rules. |
