Well, it's official. Mel will not be Max in Max 4. Some guy named Tom Hardy. They claim Mel is too old. Great. Another reboot. Plus they have to toss in Charlize Theron, probably in a chainmail miniskirt. I'm a little ticked because I was hoping to see Max older and finally bring an end to the saga. I have a feeling I'm going to wish this film was never made, like the last Star Trek movie. On a positive note, Tron 2.0 looks great! :-) |

You had me at 'Charlize Theron in chainmail miniskirt'. :-D |

If Harrison Ford at 66 can play Indy, then a spry 53-year-old like Gibson should be able to handle Mad Max. It's ageism, I tell ya. |

Although, Charlize Theron in a chainmail miniskirt is a definite draw. |

You say it like that's a BAD thing. |

Boo, Boo I say. Keep Mel in it. He is Max and they should keep him as it or not make a new one. |

Son of Max? The lost love child of Mad Max and whatever character Tina Turner played? And double plus good for Charlize Theron in a chainmail mini. |

I think his drunken nutter slurs are still biting him in the arse

If Harrison Ford at 66 can play Indy And yet the movie still blew chunks. (Can you say hide in the fridge?) I thought the new Star Trek really reinvigorated the series and maybe a new sane actor can help the Mad Max franchise. |

You say it like that's a BAD thing. LOL! See, you are falling for their ploy already! Add her and you'll never notice Mel is missing. Evil, they are. Evil! Then again with today's Hollywood being the way it is, Tom Hardy might be the one wearing the skirt. |

They'll probably bring back the V8 too but since the Ford Falcon will be "too old" it will probably be some Chevy converted to run on waste water to help the environment or some such crap. |

Mad Max: Fury Road aintitcool.com/node/42907 It's supposed to follow on from "Beyond Thunderdome" which I never really liked. Also, wasn't technology starting to really break down and become unusable by Thunderdome? Hence all the makeshift cars and methane fuel production? To me Mad Max was always about the mean road machines combined with the decay of society
i'd rather they continue on from Road Warrior
the title seems to imply going back to that road warrior idea
we'll see
I think there are pics somewhere out there on the net of some of the mock up cars WETA did for them a while ago when they were shopping the idea around

I think rather than his "drunken nutter slurs" being the cause, it might be that he has boat loads of money from his "Passion of the Christ" movie. Seems he wanted to make that movie so badly and nobody would put up the cash so he did it himself. The movie made buckets of money and almost all of it went to him. He might just not want to be in the movie and no amount of cash could change his mind. |

On a positive note, Tron 2.0 looks great! :-) What, seriously? The original movie was terrible, why/how would anyone think a sequel would be better? -Kle. |

The new tron does look pretty snazzy, I'll give it that. And with the audiences new familiarity iwth computer stuff they can't glaze over that stuff too badly either, I would hope. I'm looking forward to new mad max. And Charlize. |

Doomsday was a pretty good Mad Max substitute. |

Tom Hardy is a superb actor, with a ton of weighty roles under his belt it won't be long before you see him at the oscars. |

Hmmmm
I loved the original Tron, and definitely look forward to the sequel
