I love it. I would have made the helmet decoration 2 to 3 times that size. I saw a samurai exhibition last weekend and had no idea how big those things get. A few had horns that were more than 2' long. Steve cavalcadewargames.com nycjadie.wordpress.com |

Wyatt, sure on that back banner? I saw this before with comments that one side of the kanji proclaimed the *possessors* lack of luck/success with women (that would be the "nerd" part – and appropriately, humorously, self-deprecating.) With the other part about embracing the time of death (so they and you have the "Time to die" right it seems.) It has been far too long since I took Japanese (1986?) and I claim no first-hand expertise, just repeating what I heard about it. The whole attitude of the wearer (and the appreciation of the viewer) changes with either translation
wonder what the accurate one is. |

Mardaddy - According to the guy who's wearing the banner (my friend, who's also in the 501st asked him) that is what it is supposed to say. I suspect that the "lack of luck with women" is "otaku" and, if so, then the self-deprecation is intentional and part of the "culture" if self-described, anime-flavored geekdom can be considered a culture. You may have it right that the banner works on several levels. He is, after all, a stormtrooper. Wyatt |

Ah – had no idea you were so close to the guy who did it. |
