I've seen a lot of recent how to art books bringing 3-4X there original cover prices. its really insane. You'd think the publishers would be paying attention

I'm surprised to see some of the crafts books – there are so many books in print on just about every craft under the sun, you'd think there was a substitute for one now out of print (not to mention that some of the older ones are going to be way out of date now). And am I right in thinking quite a few of us are now diving into the darker reachs of our personal libraries, just in case we have something on those lists?! |

I'm surprised my repeated searches for a cheap copy of Prince Eugene at War did not get it on the list. |

Sue, I think a lot of that has to do with the popularity of internet fora. Just as we TMPers often ask one another for book suggestions on specific topics, so of course do other hobbyists. Some hobby fora also have standard reference books or suggested materials listed in the FAQ. Looking at that list, for example, it appears the woodworking world holds Charles Hayward in high regard. I'm sure every newbie is urged to buy those books. Esoteric subjects are typically one run, then OOP, so it stands to reason that even must-have-classics are not readily available. |

The only one on any of those lists I have is Glen Cook's "She Is The Darkness" (Book Two of Glittering Stone). |

They reprinted the Sherman book a few years ago and on preorder it was $250 USD dollars each. I purchased all of Hunnicutts American armor books when they were new and they are all very much worth the money. And now I guess I am rich if I were to sell them. Well, something for the grandkids, if any. Mike "Bunkermeister" Creek bunkermeister.blogspot.com |

I'm always on the lookout for an original copy of Hector C. Bywater's "The Great Pacific War" but every time I've located a copy, it is north of $350. USD |
