Was Napoleon best portrayed on the small screen by Rod Steiger? Or was it Abel Gance? Nope, it was surely Arthur Lowe … check his performance for yourself:

A lovely take-off of the "Waterloo" movie … though you have to be a fan of "Dad's Army" to get all the in-jokes.

Stupid drummer boy!

PS: This is what I was actually looking for when I stumbled across my earlier posted "Dad's Army" pelican signals ad.

That was fun, Arteis. But I would have to go with Ian Holme too. "That's what I like – little people, hitting each other!" Clearly a miniature wargamer.

You're right. He is good as Napoleon. It would have been nice if he'd had the chance to tackle it in a bigger way.

Eric and Ernie also did a great one, was it Vanessa Redgrave?

"Have you got the scrolls?"
