Rush is denied entry into the NFL as an owner for being too divisive.

Rush? Divisive? No way.

He would've been very popular with the 70% black athletes that make the league, Donovan McNabb especially.

Careful. Don't wander into Blue Fez territory, fellas.

It would have been nice to have had the attacks on him be factual, instead of manufactured "quotes". I have listened to him for years, and have never heard him say any of the "quotes" that were attributed to him. Nothing comes even close.
Attack him for what he DOES say, not for what you want him to have said to fit your politics.
Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton lied. Gee, what else is new?

As for the McNabb comments, all he said on ESPN is that the Sports media WANT a black quarterback to succeed. I saw the show. I KNOW what he said. I also immediately predicted that it would be twisted and this would be his last week. I was right.
If he did imply that McNabb was rated higher than he deserves, it is nothing that Philadelphia fans have not been saying for years. Terrell Owens said much the same thing too. grin

Apparently the NFL already has its quota of fat headed owners!

And all one of them reside in Oakland.

I guess money can't buy everything. And the NFL is such a source of purity, decency and understanding too.

Yeah, Michael Vick is a posterboy for decency in the NFL.

Ed Mohrmann16 Oct 2009 3:12 p.m. PST

Well, Vick did his time. Others, who actually killed
people, ain't.

And Burriss is doing time for shooting himself ! (Actually
for carrying, I guess…)

There are some current owners who don't belong, either.
They can't all be Rooney

They can't all be like Art Rooney; too bad.

I don't think there were any real winners in this whole esisode. I do think Limbaugh wanted to be part owner to help keep the team in his boyhood home.

Amen to that. Classy people all the way, the Rooneys.

And there is Jerry!

Just seems like he's reaping the consequences of being a controversial blowhard… which was his choice to begin with.
If some people don't like him and don't want to work with him… well, he's sleeping in the bed he made for himself.
He's free to say whatever he likes, nothing guarantees him freedom from backlash.
Not too different from folks who get in trouble at work/school for stuff they post on the internet.

I wonder if Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton would get the same media/league treatment if they wanted to buy a team?
