Hello! Flying down to LA for a week in November and staying next to the airport.

Anyone have any good suggestions for things to do and places to eat other than the "usual suspects". :)

Thanks!

LAX area…

Just up the 405 is the new Getty Museum: well work a look.

Fine dining around LAX? Well, we always make do with what's at the wargame convention hotel or Denny's! There's an odd little Middle Eastern place-slash-Internet cafe right there on Century Blvd. that has good food, but it ain't haute cuisine.

The Proud Bird on Aviation is interesting if you like aircraft:

We've had a couple of good meals there. If you have transportation, I'd look at running out a few miles to Marina del Rey:

That's probably going to be your best bet for close-by good food and ambience. TMP Angelinos may have some other thoughts.

It's worth noting that the first recommendation is In-'n'-Out Burger! I'd second that: try to get to one, if you haven't been before.

Thanks! :)

Indeed… I definitely intend to blow my "diet" and chow down at In and Out Burger for my first time! :)

Skip In-'n'-Out and hit Tommy's. Also, don't forget the Huntington and the Norton Simon across town in Pasadena. A lot of goods eats on Colorado Boulevard as well if you head that way, including a Tommy's of course.

Tommy's? Nononononononono, Rob. Tasteless "chili" on everything? Urk.

Thanks for the suggestion! We really enjoyed Proud Bird! It was a nice way to cap off our week down there. :)
