Damn! Some of the hardest hitting I have ever seen!
The verdict is in on Shannon and his staff. They can coach on gameday, and make adjustments during the game (plenty of big program staffs can't, and that's how talented teams lose to inferior opponents/struggle with inferior programs constantly. See: Charlie Weis, Bobby Bowden, etc.
OU came out and exploited EVERY position where we were weak due to injuries (started two third string corners and two second string safeties, and a backup receiver).
Backup receiver runs the wrong route, for an OU INT on the first series.
Cornerbacks (#9, wide receiver starting at CB because of injuries Shields blows multiple plays for an easy OU TD drive)
D'Backs getting shredded in the air, and are missing easy tackles on runs, giving OU first downs (and blowing a safety)instead of 3 and outs.
10-0, OU (also thanks to a fake FG OU ran, that comes up a ard short, but the B12 ref spots the ball on the chain.)
Looks like OU is WAY too big, experienced for us, and a blowout is evident. (What the? Their entire defense is 23 year old, fifth year redshirts!)
Then, adjustment time! Offensively, we mix the short crossing patterns with the trap (and start eating up OU's blitz), but really, it was all about Jacory shaking off two INTs in his first three passes to calmly read the coverage and check off the receivers.
Defensively, we start showing different packages (we were vanilla in the 1st qtr), using LB and safety blitzes, but the key was how hard the kids played. Our freshman and sophomores where flying around, making hits that showed why they were considered NFL 1st rounders in high school!
That was the difference.
Unbelievable game! The crowd was on fire, OU fans are some of classier fan base, and the kids gave us an old school Miami performance!
The swagger is just about back!
imagine what these kids will be like as juniors/seniors?
We have now beaten more ranked teams than SEVEN of the top
ten teams combined!!!!!!!
BTW: Those B12 officials last night are ass spelunking, donkey raping ---- eaters!
They SCREWED us the entire game! Phantom calls to give OU first downs when we stopped them, ENTIRE GAME!
i got back, I was told even MUSSBERGER said we were hosed
on TV
(Hell has frozen over)
I can't recall ONE penalty on OU that effected the play
And with UM dominating, and OU out of the game near the end of the third, here we go again! Phantom call to give them a first, then they change the game!
Instead of starting the 4th quarter with the ball and a 21-10 lead, a phantom roughing thekicker flag makes it 21-17 and a lifeless, beaten team now has the momentum for the fourth!
I am sick of this crap! This isn't a mistake or judgement call, this is intentionally inventing penalties to change the outcome of the game, and B12 officials do this all the time! The B12 wanted Texas/OU's game to be a "winner get's NC bid" promo. Wonder if the officials knew that OU needed to win last night?
Just TOO many phantom
flags, all going one way, and always taking away a UM play.
Even the the too obvious to ignore personal fouls by OU were only called insituations when it didn't hurt them.
Rant over, but those refs tried to steal what is one of our classic wins!
Go Canes!!!!
