Oh, sure. We can all come up with really stupid things that the guy next door believes in. We can all come up with the really idiotic things that that guy on the Internet or the History Channel avows.
Is everything that you believe in rational?
I think not.
So, what do YOU believe in that is irrational and dumb?

For me, it's the Warren Report.
As much as I WANT to believe in a conspiracy, any conspiracy, none of them make sense, and they ALL can't be right!
So, I apply Occam's Razor, and the lone gunman makes sense.
Sue me.

Lone gunman makes sense. LHO making that shot from the book depository doesnt =(

Faeries live in computers and make them run. Which is why all good programmers have a candy dish on the same desk as the computer: Happy Faeries = Fast, Virus-free computer.

I can categorically state that I have never believed that a 15mm Sci-Fi range was going out of production.

quidveritas25 Sep 2009 10:17 p.m. PST

Growing up, I lived on a ranch. My entire world was about 20 people. Then my father was stationed in Germany (Frankfurt) and my Mom and I went along. A year or two later we moved back to Montana.

For many years (like into Jr. High School) I firmly believed the population of Germany far exceeded that of the United States. I had been there and seen it with my own eyes. No one would ever be able to convince me otherwise.

I still remember those trolley cars in Frankfurt.

That somewhere among that mass of 'elected officials'
infesting our fair land, there is *one* at least who
serves with honesty, integrity and the best interests
of her/his constituency at heart.

Really dumb, I know, and totally irrational, but…

15th Hussar26 Sep 2009 6:08 a.m. PST

Hey Squid for Truth…you're thought process is not terribly far from wrong either…remember the New Guinea/Solomon Islanders who'd never seen an airplane or Anglo-Saxon type before and soon ended up worshipping crashed Corsairs and Navy pilots during WW2?

You believe in what you've been exposed to…until disproven.

vdal181226 Sep 2009 6:55 a.m. PST

That a good friend of mine will someday win a game where movement is pre-plotted!

The dumbest thing I believe is that Mankind is a rational creature ableto engage in logical debate to a reasoned conclusion.

vojvoda26 Sep 2009 8:09 a.m. PST

That any possible outcome is more then a 50/50 chance. Variables do not matter when it all comes down to brass knuckles it is either yes or no.

Also Karma, They say God only gives us what we can handle. I just wish SHE did not trust me so much!

When I was younger I believed the Earth was hollow… cause I really really really wanted it to be true.

Nowadays I guess it's that there is a god… or something.

Martin Rapier26 Sep 2009 10:23 a.m. PST

I have lots of silly superstitions:

No new shoes on the table.
It is bad luck to see the new moon through glass.
One magpie is bad luck (unless you salute it).

etc etc…

hurcheon26 Sep 2009 12:36 p.m. PST

Possibly dumber than my rational debate thing is that dice hate me, I can get new dicem get some good luck out of them for a game or two thrn have to replace them

I don't believe in this anymore, but until recently I did, and old habits die hard: I still do it:

I USED to believe that anything I say could change someone's mind.

Other than that, I don't believe in any stoopid things….

Buff Orpington29 Sep 2009 5:44 a.m. PST

No, really, I will get all this stuff painted.
