Last night on the NBC Nightly News, host Brian Williams made a comment I found hysterical. Describing the UN General Assembly session that took place yesterday, he referred to it as "resembling the cantina scene in Star Wars." This came after Libyan leader Moamar Quaddaffiduck suggested moving the UN to the Middle East so he wouldn't have jet lag. Wyatt |

Actually, that's how Limbaugh described it as well. In fact I heard the description from a few different sources in passing and figured they must all be reading off of the same press release. |

Remember, what that sage Obi-Wan said of Mos Eisley, "You will never see a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." Who would have thought broadcasters could be so prescient? |

I thought Castro used to look pretty scruffy, back in the day, but Qaddafi (Gaddafi, Khadaffi, you get the picture – why is it we don't have a definitive spelling on his last name?) has raised that to an art form. His speech, at least the part of it that I caught, was rather a rambling, non-sensical tirade too, but at least he is a colorful, entertaining character. Upstaged Ahmadinejad considerably in my eyes, and estimation. He was just a bit flat, by comparison. Didn't see Hugo's speech. Did he give one? I do support the move though. Would be happy to get all of them out of the country, so we can reduce our payments for the UN, the building, security, etc. We could start a new group, for true democratic nations, in its place. |

We could start a new group, for true democratic nations, in its place. And end up paying the same amount, or stalling on it, for the building, security and etc.. A lot of funds will be invested in lowering the chair and desk heights for the new representatives. |

"We could start a new group, for true democratic nations, in its place." So it would be built and always remain empty then, hmm? Kind of a big waste of money if you ask me. 8)= |

Just thinking the same thought as Nazrat

Well, you do have a point. Granted, the fraternity would be rather small, but it would be an exclusive group, with strict guidelines for admittance. It might even inspire a few countries/leaders to want to change their ways. I doubt it, but it's worth a try, since the current group doesn't seem to be working. |

I'm sure several million New Yorkers would LOVE the UN to move to the Middle East. Or the Mid-West. Or the moon. Or anywhere but NYC. |

If they want Mos Eisley, you can get to Newark on the subway. -Kle. |

Don't blame the UN for being in NY, they wanted to be in Switzerland but the USA insisted on hosting it. |

"they wanted to be in Switzerland" That would have made Qaddafi's suggestion to abolish Switzerland even more awkward than it was
