Fun with Velcro™ nametags on the US Army uniform:

A second-hand account informs me that at least one soldier in a combat team in Afghanistan had "McLovin' on his uniform.

My PMS in ROTC was Colonel Dick Tater. An ROTC acquaintance went infantry, but I saw him later when he was Captain Gay. At Fort Knox, there was a Major Minor, and a Sergeant Major. My battalion commander at Knox went on to retire as Lietenant General Funk.

Allen did you go through Knox when Captain Imhof was teaching Task Force Tactics? First name was John. We called him Jack.

While stationed at Randolph AFB Texas I noticed on one of the reserved lockers in the gym changing room a locker with the names of Capt Kirk and WO2 Spock.

Kirk was never a major, he went straight to Admiral Kirk….

When I was in the Air Force, I had a Sergeant who was "Staff Sergeant Sargent". And I went through Basic with an "Airman Armey".

Poor Airman Armey, he caught hell every day for that name…

I had a buddy whose name was Major. WE had quite a blast at his expense when he was promoted to Major. Everyone became a double rank name. "Private Private" "Lieutenant Lieutenant" etcetera. Everyone saluted Major Major, including our boss, Colonel Colonel.

Ah yes…
It reminds me of the day that good old Radar O'Reilly was promoted from Corporal to Corporal Captain.

We were all so proud.

My uncle went to basic training in the Navy with a "Richard Head." Think about it.

My first SgtMaj was SgtMaj Major.

I received a letter of appreciation for some volunteer work over Thanksgiving early in my USMC career, the charity that sent it addressed it to my apparently brand new USMC rank: "Lance Colonel"

When I was in 3/1 I worked with a Cpl Sergeant, he later got promoted to Sgt Sergeant, and even later earned himself a commission… 2ndLt Sergeant.
