This might be a stupid question, but
Why would you want a navy uniform if you weren't in the navy?

Not a silly question at all. I just wanted a tee-shirt or rain jacket. The crew from BSG were wearing them or something very much like it. How many of us have cargo shorts, camo tees, etc? I found one web site that only sells to Navy personal. I guess I could ask my buddy who is in the Navy to get me one. |

How many of us have cargo shorts, camo tees, etc? I don't. I must be in a minority :) I'm never go out in anything less than shirt (with collar and cuffs), long, grown up, trousers, jacket and leather shoes. Unless I'm riding one of my bikes, then it's black leather all over. I've been known to work in the garden or around the house in jeans and a white t-shirt though
Call me a snob. |

You're a snob. So am I. Your style of dress sounds just like mine. |

Looks like the Army Navy Shop has some link |

"shirt (with collar and cuffs), long, grown up, trousers, jacket and leather shoes" How old are you? :) |
| Connard Sage | 17 Sep 2009 2:45 p.m. PST |
Nice try. 54, but I've dressed like that since my early thirties. I have self-respect, as well as respect for my wife/employers/clients/friends. Is there a problem with that? There comes a time when cheap and nasty clothes must go to the charity shop, that time is usually when one leaves one's twenties. Few things are sadder than paunchy middle-aged men in shoddy clothes. |

"Is there a problem with that?" No problem. Must be the Atlantic
BTW, is there any middle ground in Mery Old England between your dress and "cheap and nasty" clothes? |

I got no camo but I wear slogan T-shirts the Funny kind. Long black pants cowboy boots and either a Fedora or Cowboy Hat

BTW, is there any middle ground in Mery Old England between your dress and "cheap and nasty" clothes? No. How would you like to be seen out with your wife? picture or picture |

*dry chuckle* Last year, a (now-dismissed) co-worker and I were changing out of our work uniforms (I work in a hazardous materials plant), and he mocked my button-down shirt, pressed pants and dress shoes, asking why I dressed that way every night, as he pulled on his baseball cap and baggy denim shorts. "I'm an adult?" |

Thanks Tin Dictator but I was looking for the digital camo. |

Dress shirt and pants plus leather shoes for me too. Used to be different, but nowadays I meet a lot of people, and I want to look presentable. |

To each their own I suppose as long as you are happy then what should it matter. Just don't be condescending about it. |

How would you like to be seen out with your wife? At least those guys in the pub are clean-shaven. |

Here is a pic of them if anyone wants to know. link Like with all military uniforms, if you have the cash, you can find someone who will sell (be it retail all the way down to craigslist), it's all a matter of research and persistence. Since these are brand new – I'd keep an eye on eBay, I know USMC digital cammies were on eBay for a good three months before I ever saw any at Cash Sales. |

"No. How would you like to be seen out with your wife?" Comfortable, practical, and hopefully not too superficial or shallow. |
| Mardaddy | 19 Sep 2009 7:49 p.m. PST |
Y'know, I just read the regulations they have on these and had to shake my head. Senior leadership Navy-wide will be allowed to order and wear the new uniform a month earlier than it will be available for, "more junior," sailors; and almost a full year before it is considered "required" for all. So
deskbound Admirals & Captains get to access the new uniforms before the working sailors of the fleet are allowed to
Just another difference between USN & USMC way of doing things I guess. |

Just curious, why does navy personnel ever want to be dressed in camo uniforms such as these? I mean, what actual advantage would wearing this camo outfit bring to someone aboard ship and working in a base? Or is all this to show that the USN can have a fancy new digital camo outfit too just like the Army and USMC? scratches head
