Since tomorrow's a work day, and it starts early (@ 5:30 a.m.), I enjoyed a nice "peasant supper" of hot French onion soup, farmer's cheese, and wheat bread.

I usually like to eat something light the night before my work week starts, and since we've been experiencing bucketsful of rain this weekend, I got in a mood for something simple. I just wished that the temperature was about 20 degrees colder (it's in the lower 70s F), which would've enhanced the experience even more (not that the warmer temps spoiled anything). It seems like as I become, well, "older", I find the value of a simple but satisfying dinner like soup, cheese, and bread all the more appealing.

Bon appétit! grin

The missus is chopping garlic and ginger at the moment to do beef and broccoli in the wok.

I really look forward to cooler weather. Onion soup is one of the best things ever.

Chicken limon with capers over penne pasta with a lemon sauce. Followed with a two tiered chocolate cheesecake. Nero's rocks. :)

I had rigatoni with my wife's famous veal meat sauce. Yum!

Not exactly peasant fare, but spiced (fresh) beets,
oven-roasted potatoes (with chopped, sauteed onion garnish)
and mesquite-grilled chicken breast.

Saturday was onion soup. My wife says my onion soup is
her favorite. I make croutons to go with it and she
eats the croutons as if they were popcorn…
