Apparently Lionsgate is releasing this series of horror movies packaged as Horrorfest: 8 Films to Die For – although there are now 16 films (two sets of eight):

"Gold Lettering" Series

Borderland
Unearthed
Tooth and Nail
Nightmare Man
Lake Dead
The Deaths of Ian Stone
Mulberry St.
Crazy Eights

"Red Lettering" Series

Reincarnation
Wicked Little Things
Unrest
Dark Ride
The Gravedancers
The Hamiltons
Penny Dreadful
The Abandoned

Can't say I've heard of most of these before. Any good?

Wasn't there a fantasy boardgame called Borderland.

Ok most are actually decent IMHO. Some are better than others of course and it all is a matter of taste but production values and all the tecnical stuff is top of the line. It also has that independent film flavour that always works with the horror genre very well. So I suggest you get a couple, of which the story on the back of the box grabs you and give it a go. :)

From what I've seen of them they look to be made by people straight out of film school… meaning pretty slick technically but not all that hot on the storytelling. The actors in them are all blandly pretty with no real character.
I haven't seen any that I'd recommend.

I might buy them depending on the purchase price. The quality of the horror varies, but much of the acting is pretty wooden even from some of the recognizable C and D List actors.

ANSWER:

Penny Dreadful. But without the penny.

I've seen:

Gravedancers – Loved it, very scary
Abandoned – Good ghost story – very good
Wicked Little Things – mix of ghost and zombie movie Good

tooh and nail: in a world where the oil age ended almost in a few months, everybody has leaved the cities going to hotter places (sorry about my english). famine, civil disorder strikes… a gang of canibals hunt a group of people who stands in a city.

a crap movie.

the deads of ian stone: interesting initial idea, bad plot development, worst ending

A lot of them are free on Comcast On Demand right now. Haven't watched yet.
