UGH
I was clipping counters last night and it was on in the background, but the (Psuedo) History Channel had the 2012 END OF THE WORLD, We're Doomed, Dead to Death! show on regarding Nostrodamus and the Mayan calendar, etc. I love all of these (vanity press, looney toon pub) "AUTHORS" that come out w/their schpeel
not ONE PHD among them. Then there are the "qualifiers": some believe, suggest, think
etc. So basically it comes down to less than 1% of the population that would even give credence to this stuff and they get two hours (AND an upcoming movie) to try and push this stuff. OF course
when all comes to naught, they'll have excuses and move on to other crises. |

I just checked my desk calendar and it runs out on 12/31/2009. The History Channel does not have history anymore. |

To be fair, even some of the "new-age" authors believe the Mayans were predicting a time of change and trouble as they headed into the next calendar era, not the end of all things. And no doubt after 21/12/2012 as many people will be claiming to be right as wrong. That won't change
We don't a History Channel anymore, we get something called Yesterday. |

Ragnarok is supposed to happen in 2012; that's the tentative scheduled "the next big one" (Battle of Hastings international invite): which will no doubt spark the world-wide conflagration
. |

Streetline
that was one of the best caveats
"well, even if we aren't attending each others funeral that week
Uhmmm
you can pretty much bet that scientists and scholars will look back and say
AHA! December 21st, 2012 was when it all started going down hill!". Not putting you down, but as a survivor of Hurricane Andrew, Baby Katrina, witness to 9/11, the Great Tsunami and all that's happened in the past ten years
IF there is any truth to the prophecies
then the poop hits the fan then
I don't know what else could build up to the BIG PUSH on the part of Mother Earth and Father Universe to get rid of us as it is. (But again, I know of what you speak). |

You can't go wrong predicting earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, or wars. They happen every year
somewhere. |

There are dozens of lists with dates the world should have ended, 2012 will join their ranks. |

Unh the Mayans just claim that 2012 is the end of the current cycle, the cycle starts over again as I understand the Mayan process. Regardless the Hysterical Channel really does suk these days, Spike seems more informative which is scary as hell. |

Was it the Mayans that predicted the current world would end with a rain of jaguars from the sky? Or was that the Aztecs? Either way, I look forward to that scene in the 2012 movie and/or reality. |

Ghosts, mosters of the deep and the end of the Earth are all aspects of our human history and culture that should be documented and examined. However The History Channel doesn't do that. The History Channel panders to elements that want to believe weird stuff to get ratings and sell advertising. There is a diffence between reporting and pandering (there's a lesson in there for Fox "News" and CNN "News", I think). The History Channel exhausted their stock of WWII films and have turned to Big Foot and Nostrodamus for viewership. |

I'm shocked that all of you would fail to see the historical significance of Ice Road Truckers, incarcerated Gangland gangers, tattooed Marked bikers & the noble quest for Monsters
Not really, I don't get it either. The history channel hasn't shown anything historical in years. |

I rather liked the Ice Road Truckers show the first time I saw it. Regular reshowings probably are a bit much, though. |

The world also ended on Wednesday, though I didn't here why- it was on the Today Programme |
