What is the best brand of microwave popcorn on the market these days? My vote goes to the stuff that the Boy Scouts sell, but alas, I've run out of my stash. I've been trying the Orval Reddenbacher brands, Light Movie Butter is not all bad, especially with some special popcorn seasoning (cheddar salt or nacho salt).

Pop Secret cheddar or white cheddar was our favorite until they stopped selling it locally.

Then we decided to get one of these link and we make our own with real cheese now.

Pop secret works well for me . With parmesson cheese

Cousin Willy's (kettle corn style)

Does it work well, Jana?

Jana Wang04 Sep 2009 4:16 p.m. PST

Yes, it works extremely well, as long as you dont let the paper liners get too dark (then it will burn your corn). Uses regular cheap popcorn, no oil, tastes great, and doesn't sound like a jet engine. Wipes clean, or put it in the dishwasher if you have to.

Ditto on Cousin Willies Kettle Corn. Sublime.

I don't eat it, but my wife and daughter won't buy any
but Redenbacher's.

Pictors Studio05 Sep 2009 9:13 p.m. PST

I don't really mind as long as it is the "soaked in butter" variety.

For my money its got to be Pop Weaver's. Pops almost every kernel, tastes great and is pretty cheap. I can usually find it at Wally World or the local Dollar Tree store.

Redenbacker's "White Popcorn" works well for me. Its light and tasty.

Cousin Willy is good servicable (and cheaper) popcorn.

YMMV, but I LOATH kettlecorn in all its forms.
