It's almost time for the State Fair of Texas which means it's almost time for any food that can hold a batter will be fried.

Contending for a spot in the concession stand this year is deep fried butter:

That's vile! grin

I agree.
Vile!
Can this be grounds for finally giving Texas the independance it so craves?… by firing them from the Union?

Please!!!

If it ain't on a stick, it ain't fair food.

Twisted Yam on a Stick

Who made it? Milton Whitley

What is it? A spiral-cut sweet potato is fried, then rolled in butter and dusted with cinnamon and sugar.

Now that is fair food!

Brings a whole new meaning to the song… "Deep in the Heart of Texas" No recesion for cardiologists.

BTW, avoid the jalapeno corny dogs. I know, good on paper. But bad in real life. I'm going this year just to get the taste out of my mouth.

Anyone going to take Dart to the Fair? First year the train will be making stops. I'm not sure if its going to be an epic mess or a heaven sent gift to avoid the parking quagmire.

Once the green line is finished near I live I'll take it but that won't be for another 2 years.

Gaaaaack! Ungh! Oh, my poor heart! I'm having a virtual heart attack just reading about it.

Nothing can top the pure artery-killing power of chicken fried bacon, smothered in cream sauce!

About the same calories and fat as eating your average fast food burger with cheese. The butter has about 1000 g of sodium less, though.

They still have "Fair Days" for the Metroplex schools? How bout the little free tickets that every student was issued? Good memories of climbing all over the M-60's and 155's that were parked near the entrance in the late 70's. Happy sigh.

adub7403 Sep 2009 12:17 p.m. PST

Yep. Still have "Fair Days". Avoid those days like the plague though.

Park and ride brother, park and ride. Ride the other lines to downtown and then the green line to Fair Park.
