This is very odd.

I live In Hyde Park, Leeds, which is pretty much the inner city.

I was Sitting on my doorstep drinking and reading in the sun, when the unmistakable form of a mustelidae goes loping past.

A ferret? thinks I? too big. an escaped Baby ferret? maybe… I trap it in the corner of a garden and get a good look. Nope, not a ferret, not a Polecat. Reddish fur, pointy nose, white belly, no black tip to tail – a fully grown weasel. Beautiful little thing.

It gets away, rather to my sorrow but also my relief – what would I have done if I caught it. aprt from get bit? Now I have seen heard of 'Urban' lots of things. We have urban foxes, ferral cats and the like. But an Urban Weasel is a new one on me.

Has anyone else in the UK ever seen a weasl in that sort of Urban Environment?

Not counting members of Parliament?

They (mustelidae)live quite comfortably in the urban areas of the US, we're even getting Fishers up close to the cities these days.

What's a Fisher? I am endlessly intrigued by the critters in the US that are like, but different from ours, or are different but have the sane name. your Badgers for instance are rubish compared to Brock!

A fisher is a giant weasel, considerably bigger than a Marten, but not as big as a Wolverine. Big enough to kill and eat smaller domestic dogs, though.
