I am seeing a lot of companies advertising $1,500 tax credits that you can use on your income taxes if you purchase new windows on your house this year. How does this work – anyone have any experience with this program? What brands of windows would you recommend for replacement of old window: Pella, Anderson, Marvin or other? |

I knew that someone was going to make a "Windows" joke. It was inevitable I bought a pc with XP loaded onto it before they phased it out for Vista. |

I had to have wooden windows made by a joiner, Conservation Area. So if you were this side of the poind I'd recommend RKM, but you aren't so I won't |

Just replaced 9 windows and one door – but the contractor didn't keep the stickers! |

Wow. They used to tax doors and windows. Now they give you a rebate. That's progress! |

We just ordered new windows under this plan. If the new windows meet certain requirements, you can take 30% of the cost, up to $1,500 USD off your owed taxes
at least that's how it was explained to me. Our contract says we are getting the right kind to qualify for the credit. I'm waiting to see how this works out. We were going to get new windows anyway. I believe the plan extends through 2010, so there's no rush
unless they decide to cancel it. |
