A British tourist has spent a night trapped in a French town hall after mistakenly thinking she could book a room at the "hotel de ville".

If she was that good, she'd have known what 'hotel de ville' meant in the first place.

I much prefer the German 'rathaus'. It's so aptly descriptive :)

Remember the policeman in "Allo, 'allo"? My mum thinks she must sound like that- she can get what she wants in France, but gets funny looks when she speaks.
