I absolutely hate and loathe ALL shopping cart programs that require me to "register". Why the hell do they need all this information, INCLUDING a password, to give me permission to purchase from them? Case in point. I was TRYING to buy Mike Starmer's book on the Caunter camo scheme for British tanks from Boomer's books. boomersbooks.net So, I put the book in my shopping cart and proceeded to checkout. Since I was a new customer, I created an account. Then, it told me my shopping cart was empty. I THEN tried to buy it again, but it then required me to be a returning customer. Sigh. I logged in again, which AGAIN emptied my shopping cart. I tried this 4 more times (what is the definition of insanity?), and I still cannot buy the book. Well, if that is the way they want to do business, them. I will look elsewhere. |

"Meeting is adjourned." "It is?" "Oh, I'm sorry sir. You say that." "What?" "Meeting is adjourned." "It is?" "No, you say that." "What?" "Meeting is adjourned." "It is?" The shopping cart, must create an account and log in just to buy something always reminds me of that scene from Blazing Saddles. We hates it, yes we do. |

I wonder how many customers they lose this way. I can think of at least one. |

All kidding aside, John
understood and agreed
one or two blips (especially if we hit the wrong button once ourselves) is understandable
but after the third time
Have a nice Day! |

John, it doesn't think you should be buying "that sort of book." It's merely looking out for your best interests. |

Error: OFM is not a valid last name. Please enter a valid last name. Sadly John, I think its the grim wave of the future for big on-line retailers. All to be done in the name of data security. Amazon.com is already there and they are viewed as the 'industry standard' by many retailers. Give it 6 years and see if you can still check out as a 'guest'. |

The key to this is the follow up action. If you rant and walk away the retailer may have no idea of why their sales are so poor. You have to Email or even call the seller and tell them in no uncertain terms that their web site purchasing is bad and unusable You want the book you want to buy from them but can't due to their poor site. I have done this a couple of times and have received good replies from the company thanking me for taking the time and in return have sent the book without charging shipping. We both win. |
