Aperantly those gaming it, thinks that each unit is a regiment.

But I say it's a battalion
In reality it's realy noting but IF it were to be something it would have to be a battalion.

A regiment is more a adminirastive unit then a combat unit, you count army strenght in battalions not regiments

Have you played it yet? If so, how do you like it?

It's ok, and starting to get better, there was ALOT of problems at the start

Units are 80-250 models bigs(hence the battalion) cav is around 80 as is grenadiers, line infantry goes from 160 for most factions to 200 for austria,
The uniforms are just well wrong, they are all based on british cut 1768 standard, so they are wrong for the early 1700-1760 period, and wrong for the 1790-1800 period
The french have Prussian/British cut unitforms for the enitre period instead of the right cut uniforms, all line infantry uniforms are clones, same cut only diffrent colors,
Which mean that sevral countrys have simply worng uniforms.
You also have fantasi units like ferison rifles, armed with the fergison rifle, that you aperantly can mass prosuce.
All countries can also develop shrapnel in the 1760s even if only Britian had it and then in the 1800s and only by the 1830s did it become standard for other countries.

The game has aslo some strange ides about shooting.
At first you only have "volley" fire, the problem is that the "volley" fire is actualy just the first line shooting.
Then you get rank fire, were each line shoots a shot, then takes knee so the next line can shoot, then you got platoon fire(that only grenadiers and guards can use) were you got this rolling fire from left to right.
Aperantly it would be to hard to actualy get real volley fire, were all 3 lines open fire at once.

Luckly there are mods out, the one I use now Darthmod, ads blood, screems, better smoke, better sounds and bigger units, now regular line has 300 models.

But the uniform still sucks, there are other mods out there that give the sweeds and french the right cut(GNW and 7yw type)

Sadly you can't combine all mods, so you I have to choose between better effects and sounds, and Ai or the right uniforms.

It's still a very arcade type game, and not a real wargame, it still got lots of problems.

If you want a real wargame you have to get Take command games or wait for histwar

So it sounds like they took developments from various eras and applied them as unit characteristics in the game rather than an actual doctrine.

Rank fire, for instance, would be an early development in black powder warfare and then would (should) be applied to all units, whether they were militia or guards. TW uses it as a special ability. Lesser troops have rank fire while greater troops get better developments. Hmmm…

I am ok with the arcade aspect of the game and can overlook the uniform cut so long as the battle makes a good spectacle. Where does one get Empire TW? I have not seen it on the store shelves.

This is mith darth mod, with out it, there would be like no smoke, and you would have 160 models instead of up to 400
