Warning in advance: this post won't make much sense unless you are familiar with the Neverwinter Nights franchise. I have been playing Neverwinter Nights (the orignial) off and on for years now. Even though the graphics and engine are antiquated, there are so many high-quality community modules out there that whenever I need a light diversion its always easy to find an engrossing and well-written single-player story that someone has created for NWN. Several times I considered picking up Neverwinter Nights 2, but the game magazine reviews and user reviews I read really panned it, and whenever I have checked to see what sort of community contributions were available for download, they generally seemed to pale compared to what was available to NWN1 users (please note, I am a dedicated solo player, persistant worlds and multiplayer venues aren't for me). Recently, I checked the NWN vault again and noticed that the NWN2 community files section seems to have grown tremendously. I am wondering if any TMPers play/have played NWN2, and if so, how do you think it stacks up against NWN1? What do you think of the community content available (especially for solo play)? Have the bugs present in NWN2 early on been worked out? Many thanks in advance! Jason |

I have played it for a bit, and like it. I didn't play it when it was new, but haven't had any problems with it. I can't even recall that I've noticed any bugs*. * Not including giant insects and such I've slaughtered in the game, of course. I seem to recall some bothersome spiders, but I'm fairly certain they were intended.

bothersome spiders, but I'm fairly certain they were intended. Whiche means those are not bugs, but features. |

I really liked NWN1 because of the ability to make modules any way you wanted. It was a joy (for me) to design and script. What I hated about it was the cheesy armor and equipment graphics. NWN2 is definitely a step up for graphics. the game play is about the same. Graphics are really nice. It falls down somewhat by limiting the open endedness of the original game. I have heard that the modules are easier to design though. I played through part of the stock adventure and liked it pretty well. While it did not get editors choice, gamespot did give it an 8.6. link Hope that helps. John |
