What is oozing out of our ground? |

Seen it before, and love it. Both the slurred voice and the strange tilt at the end might indicate there is little blood left in her alcohol stream. |

She's a winner, all right. Google "dboots" and "rainbow" and you'll find some of her other theories. For example: link i. "Wireless energy" can cause a "vacuum of sound . . . caused by sound waves colliding with each other" that can deaden sounds, such as traffic noises. She knows because it's "common sense," and also because a friend who used to work for the telephone company told her. 2. "Wireless energy" can trap heat emissions from vehicles. 3. "Static energy" in the air is 100 times more prevalent than it used to be. She knows because she hears telephone poles buzzing. (They're called transformers, sweetie.) 4. Magnetic fields can carry bacteria "like E.colli" (sic). 5. Gases that have a "magnetic cluster" (?) can cause cancer in humans, as well as "more potential for danger on . . . the earth." 6. Sound waves are more dangerous than anyone realizes. (She might be right on this one. !) Sad. |

Kids have a really good understanding of science -- which is, after all, just a formalization of "I wonder what will happen if I try this
" The danger is from adults who think: (1) I am intelligent (2) Since I do not understand what scientists say, any incomprehensible statement I make is just as valid. This is not helped by most works of science popularization, especially in physics, which tends to be one gee-whiz after another. |

I realized that there are some people out there who do not have a clue and even if you gave them money to buy one – they would not. I just didn't figure that they would film their stupidity and then put it on the internet, oh wait, that is what most idiots do – film it and then display it to the world! |
20thmaine | 29 Jul 2009 1:08 p.m. PST |
She does make 1 very telling point : "we as a nation have got to ask ourselves what the hell is going on" and she is so right. What the hell is going on that someone can get to adulthood and not have a clue about refraction. |

I don't know, seems no worse that either or . All these show lack of scientific thinking – but if you want to carry on the dialog of the deaf with the Idiots, this is the place for it TMP link It's been going since February. Sigh. |

Wow. I had no idea that topic had exploded like that. Last I looked (when it was still on the front page) it was on post 5. Now its on page 7. |
| Tango India Mike | 29 Jul 2009 2:43 p.m. PST |
"their never ending thrist for energy sources" kinda snappy! |
| Lord Hypnogogue | 29 Jul 2009 4:20 p.m. PST |
!
I hope not! I'm a big fan of the Canadian trio. |
| Lentulus | 29 Jul 2009 5:03 p.m. PST |
138SquadronRAF, I am glad I have missed that thread up to now, and I will resume missing it immediately. It is a topic on which I have strong views, but not one that I will argue for the sake of argument. To tell you the truth these days I am never entirely clear on how to distinguish gullible stupidity from active fraud. Consider the whole holy blood, holy grail/da Vinci code thing for example. Or von Däniken and Chariots of Fire. Or any of a number of more recent bits of horse hockey that I will not name to avoid having a debate with some defender. If I knew how to make a fortune while being a laughing stock to the intelligent, well it's hard to hear the giggles in first class. Oh, and if an internet campaign by idiots could , I would be tempted. |
| DesertScrb | 29 Jul 2009 5:16 p.m. PST |
Oh, and if an internet campaign by idiots could , I would be tempted. Like Lord Hypnogogue said, why do you have to dog on that power trio from the Great White North? Sure, they kinda changed directions starting with the Subdivisions album, but you can't deny their musicianship. |
John the OFM | 29 Jul 2009 6:45 p.m. PST |
Oh, and if an internet campaign by idiots could , I would be tempted. Only idiots have the motivation to try to stop him. Good thing their skills in all matters are lacking. |
| Lentulus | 29 Jul 2009 7:33 p.m. PST |
"to dog on that power trio" Too much can-con for too long for me to retain any positive memories. IMHO, YMMV, they owe their success to the CRTC. |

From the article: "Have you noticed that when you drop objects today they tend to plummet toward the ground much more often than they did when we were kids? This disturbing new phenomenon must have something to do with how we're tinkering with mother nature." No, it's Intelligent Falling. link |

For me, is just an easy target, with fans who are *very* easy to rile up. I, on the other hand, have every LP/CD that every member of the Monkees ever put out, as a group or solo act, so I have no room to speak. :) |
| Hexxenhammer | 30 Jul 2009 12:35 p.m. PST |
Or von Däniken and Chariots of Fire I agree that was a boring movie, but von Daniken wrote Chariots of the Gods. :) |
| blackscribe | 30 Jul 2009 12:44 p.m. PST |
These are some of my more favorite loons: timecube.com (NSFW and you must make a SAN check) etheric.com (this guy is right some of the time, but he doesn't know when to turn the CRAZY: ON/OFF switch to the off position -- much like a house cat) link (an interesting relic from a bygone age trying to kluge together a classical model of reality that jives with what has been proven to be a quantum reality) |
| Last Hussar | 30 Jul 2009 1:54 p.m. PST |
I have 'timecube.com' already in my favourites- under Humour/things that arnt meant to be funny |
| Hexxenhammer | 31 Jul 2009 8:06 a.m. PST |
Uh, Mr. Editor, "Rush," in this context, is a Canadian prog-rock band. |
| GypsyComet | 31 Jul 2009 8:25 a.m. PST |
Too many double entendres, I suspect. |
| AzSteven | 31 Jul 2009 9:23 a.m. PST |
I would think Chariots of Fire would have been a much more interesting film if von Däniken had been co-writer and co-producer. Seeing Ben Cross getting taken up by a UFO in the wake of the 100-meter dash would have been outstanding |
| Daffy Doug | 31 Jul 2009 10:01 a.m. PST |
WHAT??? Jpattern is Dawghaused for a reference to a BAND? Bill you've flipped out
. |
| Daffy Doug | 31 Jul 2009 10:02 a.m. PST |
And besides, when is mentioning Rush Limpbod verboten? He's not political, he's ENTERTAINMENT!
|
Bobgnar | 31 Jul 2009 10:45 a.m. PST |
WWF is sports entertainment, Rush L is political entertainment. |
Virtualscratchbuilder | 31 Jul 2009 6:22 p.m. PST |
Prodominantly? I guess the stuff oozing out of the ground causes us to make up words too. |
| jpattern2 | 02 Aug 2009 7:09 a.m. PST |
Just to clarify, I really *did* mean Rush the Canadian prog-rock trio in my original post. The double entendre didn't even occur to me until I was DHed. Hah! Next time I'll just pick on the Jonas Brothers. |
