I caught most of it live. I was shocked that I was drawn into it! I thought it was well done.

Wyatt the Odd Fezian07 Jul 2009 8:45 p.m. PST

Avoided it as much as I could.

Wyatt

kyoteblue07 Jul 2009 8:45 p.m. PST

My Lady watched it. Shrug.

Greyalexis07 Jul 2009 8:50 p.m. PST

while watching it at work in the break room I told my boss I needed to be home so I could share this moment with the world. for some reason he would not let me go.

aecurtis Fezian07 Jul 2009 8:53 p.m. PST

The what? Did something happen to Jesse Jackson?

I thought it was ANDY Jackson!
SOB deserved it.

Rush must have known he was going to be preempted. He took the day off.

I managed to offend two secretaries by explaining they had to go back to work and skip the whole inappropriate, bad taste, public grief for the unworthy, thing.

Well, it wasn't Samuel L Jackson. He's on Conan right now.

Who asked this joker07 Jul 2009 9:16 p.m. PST

Missed it. I didn't know the man so I didn't think it was appropriate for me to attend.

Stosstruppen07 Jul 2009 9:16 p.m. PST

wife taped it to watch tonite..ugh

I was drawn in by curiosity, but ten minutes into it I bailed. I dunno, but I just had this unshakable feeling that this was the way the Roman Empire bided it's time until their eventual downfall.

Call me crazy.

andygamer07 Jul 2009 9:45 p.m. PST

For 2 seconds each at almost every American and Canadian mainstream network and all of the "news" channels, including the BBC world service, while flipping around. When I returned some four hours later, it was still going on, so I watched a DVD instead.

No, why should I?

Streitax07 Jul 2009 10:20 p.m. PST

Absolutely no reason Gungnir.

Far as I can tell the 'memorial service' has been going on for two weeks now… with no sign of stopping.

Saw some woman from Brown University going on about how 'underrecognized' MJ was… some other guy claiming he was the 'greatest entertainer ever'… yet some other yakster blathering about how he was the 'greatest dancer'.

It was like everyone had this attic full of superlatives they needed to clear out of their attics…

Oppiedog Supporting Member of TMP08 Jul 2009 1:13 a.m. PST

But don't be down of heart for those that missed the big send off. There's another one scheduled in London for next month!!! Something to do with Jocko's birthday … Maybe they'll be one every month!!!

Pictors Studio08 Jul 2009 1:33 a.m. PST

I was either asleep, in a car, in an OR or on a plane all day today so I didn't see any of it. Not that I would have watched it anyway.

streetline08 Jul 2009 1:35 a.m. PST

What kyoteblue said.

I was suprised it was sponsored by KFC though!

PzGeneral08 Jul 2009 2:19 a.m. PST

Is he really dead…or will he turn up in a Nursing Home with Elvis and JFK……

mrwigglesworth08 Jul 2009 3:44 a.m. PST

Maybe he will show up in Bubba Ho Tep 3?

Mike G08 Jul 2009 3:58 a.m. PST

I am waiting for the Memorial DVD with never before seen footage. I am sure I will have to stand in line to get it, because quantities will be limited or maybe I will not do that. I do not understand any of this.

Mike

Buff Orpington08 Jul 2009 4:02 a.m. PST

I decided to base up some battlemechs instead.

Cold Steel08 Jul 2009 4:14 a.m. PST

Why?

Lentulus08 Jul 2009 5:02 a.m. PST

No.

And I applaud anyone who got free tickets and sold them.

moonhippie308 Jul 2009 5:02 a.m. PST

There is some breaking news; MJ is still dead.

Let's all pay homage to an alleged mentally unbalanced, drug addled child molester. He deservedly should get more coverage than Deleted by Moderator.

Not a whit, other than what the radio news was broad-
casting.

Today was laundry day, y'see…

You lasted longer than I did.

xxxxxxxxooooo08 Jul 2009 5:12 a.m. PST

He's still alive…

…didn't you see "LaToya"?

Now he doesn't have to switch back and forth. grin

jdpintex08 Jul 2009 5:28 a.m. PST

Nope

Regrebnelle08 Jul 2009 5:37 a.m. PST

No, I didn't know the man, so watching the memorial service would have been akin to just randomly dropping into a local funeral home and joining whomever's memorial service was going on there.

Patrick R08 Jul 2009 5:39 a.m. PST

I somehow expected light to pour out of the coffin and that Michael would rise from the dead and give us the concert of the century.

nazrat08 Jul 2009 5:45 a.m. PST

I kept having it pushed in my face all damn day. And I could not possibly care less about him being dead. I wanted to vomit to "celebrate" his passing…

Old Slow Trot08 Jul 2009 6:16 a.m. PST

Only caught a bit on a webcast.

Mick A08 Jul 2009 6:24 a.m. PST

Sreetline- dont use the wife as an excuse for watching it… :-)

xxxxxxxxooooo08 Jul 2009 6:25 a.m. PST

That's the spirit Nazrat!

I hated him before it was fashionable as well.

bloodeagle08 Jul 2009 6:38 a.m. PST

Would poke my eyes out before watching that.

richarDISNEY08 Jul 2009 7:50 a.m. PST

Nope. I was a productive member of society and was at work. Also it meant giving up my breaks to read TMP.

I was disappointed that Bubbles the chimp did not make an appearance. Maybe he was too shaken up over the whole thing.

But this got me wondering…. What ever happened to Bo Jackson? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Jackson

Walked through a room and caught a moving, in a plumbing sense, tribute from one of my least favorite legislators Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. No way I'd watch after THAT!To be honest, I wouldn't have watched anyway, even if someone held me at gunpoint. Death is better than some alternatives.

Austin Rob08 Jul 2009 11:03 a.m. PST

I TRIED to watch news. None o' that, though.

I was suprised it was sponsored by KFC though!

Really?? Funny that you mention that, streetline. I was listening to a local sports station this morning, and they played audio clips from the service. One clip they played had Magic Johnson talking about the time he and Jacko were diggin' through a bucket of KFC at Neverland. Being the suspicious type, I'm wondering if he was approached beforehand to mention the product on live tv? It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

Anyway, I tuned in and out when Brooke Shields was blabbering and blubbering. Glad I missed the rest of the circus.

Mainly28s08 Jul 2009 12:51 p.m. PST

No. Why waste 90 minutes on it?
