I caught most of it live. I was shocked that I was drawn into it! I thought it was well done. |

I thought it was ANDY Jackson! SOB deserved it. Rush must have known he was going to be preempted. He took the day off. |

I managed to offend two secretaries by explaining they had to go back to work and skip the whole inappropriate, bad taste, public grief for the unworthy, thing. |

Well, it wasn't Samuel L Jackson. He's on Conan right now. |

I was drawn in by curiosity, but ten minutes into it I bailed. I dunno, but I just had this unshakable feeling that this was the way the Roman Empire bided it's time until their eventual downfall. Call me crazy. |

For 2 seconds each at almost every American and Canadian mainstream network and all of the "news" channels, including the BBC world service, while flipping around. When I returned some four hours later, it was still going on, so I watched a DVD instead. |

Far as I can tell the 'memorial service' has been going on for two weeks now
with no sign of stopping. Saw some woman from Brown University going on about how 'underrecognized' MJ was
some other guy claiming he was the 'greatest entertainer ever'
yet some other yakster blathering about how he was the 'greatest dancer'. It was like everyone had this attic full of superlatives they needed to clear out of their attics

Maybe they'll be one every month!!! |

There is some breaking news; MJ is still dead. Let's all pay homage to an alleged mentally unbalanced, drug addled child molester. He deservedly should get more coverage than .

No, I didn't know the man, so watching the memorial service would have been akin to just randomly dropping into a local funeral home and joining whomever's memorial service was going on there. Mark |

I somehow expected light to pour out of the coffin and that Michael would rise from the dead and give us the concert of the century. |

Nope. I was a productive member of society and was at work. Also it meant giving up my breaks to read TMP. I was disappointed that Bubbles the chimp did not make an appearance. Maybe he was too shaken up over the whole thing. But this got me wondering

Walked through a room and caught a moving, in a plumbing sense, tribute from one of my least favorite legislators Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. No way I'd watch after THAT!To be honest, I wouldn't have watched anyway, even if someone held me at gunpoint. Death is better than some alternatives. |

Saginaw | 08 Jul 2009 11:30 a.m. PST |
I was suprised it was sponsored by KFC though! Really?? Funny that you mention that, streetline. I was listening to a local sports station this morning, and they played audio clips from the service. One clip they played had Magic Johnson talking about the time he and Jacko were diggin' through a bucket of KFC at Neverland. Being the suspicious type, I'm wondering if he was approached beforehand to mention the product on live tv? It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Anyway, I tuned in and out when Brooke Shields was blabbering and blubbering. Glad I missed the rest of the circus. |
