Ok, this is funny for you very sad for us that have to pay for it. A 8oz steak in the market $15-20 In a resturante you would have to pay 2-3 times that. A pint of beer in the same resturante? Up $20 USD A pizza from a pizza place, up to $40 USD for a large one. Thats in the big pizza francieses. At the local pizzeria's you can get away with $20 USD Frozen pizza in the store you can get it as low as $5 USD A 1.5L bottle of coke just under $4 USD OK, now lets get serious, a used car can go as low as $9 USD 000 But you can probebly only use it for a few years because every car has to pass a european control that is quite strict and a car for less then $15 USD 000 probebly will only be use full for a few yeears. Also you have to pay a yearly car tax that depends on the size of the engien of the car and how much it cost. So you probebly have to pay around $1-2000 a year just for that. Pluss 3 and 5 years checkups that will run you another grand. Now a REAL car starts at $29 USD 000 thats for 3 door city cars and for the basic model, same car in a sport or racers version culd run you $38-46 000. A real real car like a BMW M3 will cost you $240 USD 000 A big luxuary SUV, $385 USD 000 Same goes for regular sports cars like M3 Sport or Basic Porcha. Super cars like the super car version of Porcha can run you up to $600 USD 000 Which insedently is the staring price of a small house or medium sized apartment. A Nice two story house with attic and a roomy basement that can hold a nice Home movie room with a big 40" tv and and surround, or a 6x12 gameing table Will cost you from $850 USD 000 to $1 USD million $850 USD 000 is also the staring price for a nice big apartment like a 1400 square feet apratment with about 10-12 rooms. Big penthouse aprtment in the expencive part of oslo, might not be much bigger then 1400 sqf, would run you $1.5 USD million. Now I pay $700 USD a month for my 300 sqf one room apartment Oh and 35 sqf is take up by my gaming table. I spend about 200 a week on food and drink, that is if I don't buy and pizzera pizza or go out, if I did then I would spend up to $300(but I never do just becasue I can't aford it) I also spend $70 USD a month on my internet conection. And just to put this into perspective I spent about $850 USD on miniatures the last two weeks. |

Holy Cow. Average price for a detached home in my suburb is a hair over $100,000 USD for a 15,000sqft house. I get a little cranky if I pay over $8 USD per pound for a good steak like NY Strip or T Bone, 2 Pizzas with some wings will be in the 30s depending on where I get it from. Last year I bought my first car that I paid over $30k for. I am amazed you have anything left over for minis, but I imagine that minis seem inexpensive by comparison |

Gunfreak, did you mean the prices to be in US dollars? You can format for other currencies – see TMP link |

It's only half the story though, as Norway also has a pretty high average income
. Overall my sympathy's somewhat limited given that Norway rarely drops out of the top three countries in the world for quality of life
. Dom. PS – The figures for this sort of thing are usually a couple of years in arrears, but the UN's Human Development Index ranked Norway best in the world 1999-2004, and second in 2005 and 2006, with Iceland having just topped it. I'd imagine when we see 2008 figures it'll be back on top again

Yes it is true, we do live well on norway, with the expetion of imigrant homeless(usualy easter europe) And substance abuse people, you don't see many homeless, as most pople will be caught up to the sosial welfare. I forinstante is on disablity and get about 12 000NOK or $1,800 USD a month, and it's enough that I can live in my small apartment, eat well I have a highend computer, internett, 600+ dvd's 250 tv shows 32" HD tv, and I on ocation buy WAY to many miniatures. I don't think many people on disablilty in the states would have it that good. But it is so little to raise a family on, even with two people on disablility you can't raise a child. Atleast not well. |

Don't talk to me. I live in New York. And a 400 square foot apartment in my bulding would run about $1,500 USD a month, and I live downtown. It would be twice that if you lived in midtown, at least. |

Well I live in a special buildings specaly for people on disability, Regular price for a 300 sqf apartment is $850 USD a 400 sqf apartment would be $1,000 USD in this neighborhood and close to $1,300 USD down town. Not 1500 or 3000 but still alot. You don't find any small apartments in the realy expencive parts of the city, there you have to buy not rent |

I don't think there are many 15,000 sq. foot homes in Jlundberg's neighborhood selling for around $100,000. I suspect they are a slightly smaller 1,500 sq. feet. If Jlundberg is correct and did not create a typo, I am moving TONIGHT! |

Yes, the prices was put in US dollars so most people can get an ide of the price right away
On TMP, if you code for the currency, then others can put their cursor over the amount and instantly see a conversion to their preferred currency. |

Ever think about moving to Texas – most of its realitively flat and easy to get around. Might be a tick on the warmer side though

Gunfreak, move to Oklahoma! I can sell you a 3 bedroom house with a front room that is 400 sq foot for $20,000! |

of!!!!!
Twenty – thousand – dollars? For a whole house? I live in the cheaper suburbs of SE London. My modest terraced 3 bedroom house is worth about £240,000. And that is after the credit crunch price drop! |

I had a friend whose Norwegian Girlfriend got a grant to study , and was studying at an English University. She bought a house with her grant, shared it with her mates and lived on the rent, sold it at a Profit, (late 90's) moved back to norway and
. used the money as a 25% deposit on a house on Stord. Smoking, for the tourist in Norway, is a remarkably chastening experience. How much are cigarettes for 20 nowadays? I am guessing £15? Pat |

Cerdic, I am not joking! My wife inherited this house in a small town of 5 to 10 thousand people. The town is 25 miles from a major university. This is a nice town and has all the typical shops and restaurants you find in the US. The house was built in 1899 and is in good shape but within a 6 blocks(going up one street) there are 9 other houses for sale. You could probably buy a 2 or 3 story beautiful old house for $50,000. My wife's house is assesed for taxes at $37,000. If I get anything over $20,000 I will be estatic. |
| Cerdic | 08 Jul 2009 7:01 a.m. PST |
At those prices you could just pop one on the credit card! |
| cfuzwuz | 08 Jul 2009 9:03 a.m. PST |
Cerdic, you could put a 8'x 24' wargame table in the front room and have plenty of room to move around it. I might keep it and make a wargame house out of it! |
| Gunfreak | 08 Jul 2009 9:13 a.m. PST |
Price for a 20 pack is $9.80 USD thats an increase of 50% over the past 10 years |
Jlundberg | 08 Jul 2009 10:13 a.m. PST |
Thatwas a typo. My house outside of Fort Drum was a Italianate Victorian in great condition with around 3600sqft that I bought and sold $86,000. My first house outside of Griffiss AFB was probably 800 sqft that I bought for $17,000 USD – I believe the price on cfuzwuz's house |
