Recently(?) published first novel by Brit MP Patrick Mercer. Covers the Crimean Campaign mid 1850's. fwiw. I'm a long-time "Flashman" fan. Mercer's main character (alter-ego?) "Morgan" – a British infantry line officer – seems to be in the midst of all the major actions i.e. the Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and the final assault on Sevastapol
Good, quick read with lots of action
Language and main character's interaction with the ORs seems "off" for the time period
But I'm no expert. Any thoughts? *(It's NOT Flashman
"Morgan" just seems to have the knack – like Flash – of being in the "wrong/right" place at the "wrong/right" time) Thanks. Chaz |
