Even more distressing is not knowing I have an account in Australia, or how much money it contains. I could use a bit more dough.

You'd think the spammers would at least try to get the continent right.

Just explain to them the there will soon be a large deposit coming to that account from Nigeria.

Yes, I used to get something similar from someone. It started with my Citibank Account (I don't have one), and went through literally dozens of banks and stores I don't use.

Eventually and amazingly, they sent one purporting to be from a bank I actually do use. But having seen dozens of identical pleas, I wasn't very tempted.

Had one for PayPal, with a link leading back to a Russian IP.

I forwarded it to PayPal so they could correct that bit.

I get these from time to time, I have yet to actually get one from somewhere I have an account. Usually the IP's seem to lead to Russia, like Gungnir mentioned.

Yeah, I get them from lots of different "banks". Today I got an email that was all in Cyrillic, dated 1977…

My earliest 'regular' email is dated 1969. I've had problems with lots of accounts being hacked or suspended, none of which I knew I had. Not knowing you have accounts makes it very difficult to keep them in order.
