For those of us who grew up during or at least remember the 70's this should bring back some memories…..

Funny you should bring up the '70s, as I'm watching something on VH1 about the '70s. Haven't watched VH1 since they used to play music videos back when….

As much as we remember the campiness of the Seventies, those sure were some fun times.

Yes, the 70's. No Cable, No VCR/DVD's, no computer/internet, Lime Green Leisure Suits. Life really sucked, we were just too dumb to know it;-)

Hey, I had a Canary Yellow Leisure Suit and I was 'cool'.

I have since destroyed all evidence of said costume.

Apart from the oil crisis, power cuts, strikes, impending nuclear war, mass unemployment, disillusionment with democracy and the rise of neofascism, it was alright. It was nice and sunny in the summer of 1976, and we had punk rock, before that we had Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I still had my hair, eyesight and the body of a greek god, what else could anyone want?

I had a blue corduroy leisure suit with really big lapels, I also had two tone platform shoes and my dads old RAF greatcoat. I was so cool that ice stuck to me as I walked through the streets.

Later on I looked like a convict wearing clothes stolen from a dead tramp, but that was cool too. It certainly seemed to have astonishing powers of sexual attraction. Not sure it would work now.

Ahhh, the summer of '76. I spent three weeks down at the Wildwood, NJ shore just before the start of my senior year of high school. We evacuated twice for hurricanes but spent the time inbetween listening to the likes of Frampton Comes Alive, crabbing the inlets by day and trolling the boardwalk by night.

The 70's were my decade of awakening; gwad, what a thing to have to admit! I laugh at all the details when I rewatch Rockford Files. What is more smug, is knowing that ALL of the kids today are going to cringe when their kids laugh at the stupid fashions they are sporting now: the clown clothes, the piercings, stupid hair, the attitudes mimicking other ethnic groups, the over-sized shoes and butt cracks showing. It makes the 70's look positively civilized and cultured!…

Ah…the days when Chuck Taylors were a good, cheap tennis shoe and not a fashion statement.

Barry Manilow singing "Copacabana" and the Eagles singing "Hotel California" all blaring from a small FM radio while we roasted on the sands of the Jersey shore.

Buying Topps baseball cards for a nickel from the machine in the five and dime downtown. Chewing the gum that came with the baseball cards.

"The Big Red Machine" and expecting the Cincinnati Reds to always make the playoffs.

Star Wars and the Star Wars trading cards. (I've still got mine at home!)

I miss the 70's, but I think that is because I miss being 8.

I do recall a lime green patterned shirt, green corduroy jeans and a purple knitted tie, not necessarily at the same time. In retrospect, probably not really good things to remember.
