This is my third year for it. I decided that I wanted to do something different,so I'm doing corn and potatoes, neither of which I have done before. I've also got onions and sunflowers.I decided against tomatos and peppers,at least for this year. Nothing is better than strolling out back and picking your supper.

I'm doing courgettes, pak choi and swiss chard.
A few potatoes and carrots.
Decided to give the tomatoes a miss this year as they ended up crap last year.

We do 2 gardens at my folks' place, about a half hour away. One garden is fairly large. We also do a few plants at our place in town here.

We're doing pumpkins, onions, garlic, spuds, carrots, spinach, radish, runner beans, french beans, cucumber, chillis, tomatoes and the usual herbs. Looking good so far, baring the black fly!

This year I put in tomatoes (4 varieties), bell peppers (3 varieties), garlic, spinach, radishes, lettuce, chard, carrots, and cucumbers. One of the cukes turned out to be a squash… not sure which kind yet. Plus the requisite herbs. Despite a slow start most of it is looking good. IMO fresh tomatoes are the best part.

This year we have:
My wife:
grapes, plums, tangerines, apricots, tomatoes, dill, rosemary, strawberries, Japanese pears and peaches.
Me:
Lemon and a Lime tree (for drinks…)wink

We are going to do a raised bed garden this summer, so it will be ready by next year. Yup. A WHOLE year to prep, so it will be "100%" organic. baloney Not that I am into it, but she is, so its worth the extra soil prep.

The guy who helped us with our garden died, we had a lot of trouble finding a new one, so our garden in a minor jungle. Mrs G feeds the birds, birds drop seeds, so we have some surprising results. Last year we found a handfull of radishes, this year we're cornering the rye market:

A Spanish guy is supposed to come and help us now, so I'm studying the Fawlty Towers Manual on handling Spanish Labour.

Do any Gardening? yep six days out of seven being a head gardener for a living makes it a bit tricky not to. No fruit or veggies for me though lots of trees, shrubs, lawns, flower beds and a couple of ponds though.
At home you can forget it, last thing I want to do with my spare time is gardening cuts down on my hobby time to much:)

Nope, after a couple of tries I got tired of feeding the bugs. The BW grows herbs.

Vicshere11 Jun 2009 10:25 a.m. PST

We have 6 Raspberry and 6 Blueberry bushes planted, adding to our 4 bushes already. 58 strawberry plants, 32 tomato plants, 8 cabbage, 12 String beans, 20 potatos, 12 lettuce, 2 beds of rhubarb, 9 rows of corn, 4 or so kale, about 6 pumpkin plants, some watermelon, , peppers, cucumber, eggplant, zuchinni, cilantro, mint (my wife knows all the herbs). She bought a bunch and I planted it. Add to that our 6 black walnut trees, cherry tree, 2 apple trees, 2 crabapple trees, 3 pear trees.

We have 5 (soon to be 6) kids, so we like to grow and can our own stuff (no pesticides and all that) as well as have some selfsuffiency (own well, sun box, working on getting some solar power etc.). One garden measures 50'x45', the other 30'x 30' that is fenced in, then some of the spreading stuff is on its own in the field. All this on 2.5 crowded acres LOL. Yeah, lots o hobby time spent in the garden LOL….

Tomatoes, peppers, zuchini and cucumbers and various herbs every year at the current house.

In the past at other houses with larger yards I've grown almost everything: beets, radishes, turnips, cabbage, potatoes, okra, corn, peanuts, eggplant, melons (all types),greens (mustard, kale, collard, turnip), carrots, beans (all types), asparagus, lettuces, pumpkins, brocolli, squash (all types) fruit trees, grapes (made wine) and nut trees.

I've never grown brussel sprouts or cauliflower, that's about it.

I've also raised rabbits and chickens.
