Things have been churning rapidly in the auto industry this past week: A Chinese conglomeration is buying the rights to the Hummer brand. This only applies to the H2 and H3 models as Hummer no longer has the rights to the H1 and never made the military version. Supposedly, production will still continue in the US with GM being the contractor. It looks like Chrysler will indeed be coming out of BK as a part of Fiat. This means that "MOPAR" will now stand for "Mostly Old Parts from Alfa Romeo." Fiat is eyeing Opel for dessert. And, this just in, the Penske Automotive Group – one of the largest owners of dealerships (mostly in California) will buy Saturn. This company is owned by Roger Penske, the auto racing legend. Can a NASCAR version be far off? Supposedly, certain models from Renault will be used to fill in "gaps" within the Saturn brand. I hope things have improved from the 1980s when Renault owned AMC/Jeep. Wyatt |

Fiat is eyeing Opel for dessert. Nope. Magna International bought Opel and Vauxhall. It's a conglomerate composed mostly of a Canadian auto parts company and GAZ, a manufacturer of bad Russian trucks. The Penske thing is truly bizarre. -Kle. |

Magna International bought Opel and Vauxhall. It's a conglomerate composed mostly of a Canadian auto parts company and GAZ, a manufacturer of bad Russian trucks. That explains a lot about what they did to Donnelly mirror corporation if they are owners of GAZ. Must have picked up the old Soviet management team in the deal. |
