Spain in Flanders 1623-24. Eighty Years War and Thirty Years War.

Third in a succession of novels by Arturo Perez-Reverte, with Diego Alatriste woven within the story.

Very well written. Highly recommended.

A search of local bookstores shows it in stock at the Borders on 14th and F, I suppose I'll need to walk up there at lunch tomorrow.

Thanks.

Bought the first 3 at BnN last night on the way home from work and I'm about half way thru the first one.

These are a pretty good read. I spoke with a Spanish friend at work regarding the sentence structure and writing style and he says very long sentences with minimal punctuation are very Spanish.

When TAG move their Spanish line along further and hit the TYW I'll need to find a suitable character to be painted as Alatriste. It would make a nice vignette for the Imperial Army.

Thanks for the excellent recommendation folks!

Now has anyone viewed the movie?

Donald~
