The Monkey Hangers have decided that Lily, George, Kitty, Monty and Clive do not cause enough havoc so have taken on another cat. A six month old kitten who is yet to get a proper name. picture What do you think we should call her? |

Oh come now, one cannot name a cat without seeing it in person. It would be just too much pressure. |

I never name a cat until it has been in the house at least two months. But I do have to admit that by that time I also have to give it a name the kids can say in public. Regards, the Gorb |

Besides basic gonzo kitten, what's she like? Neotacha almost adopted another one last week. Fortunately, we talked ourselves out of it (the inside cat population is currently 10, which is already rather a lot). |

She's a cutie, by the way. |

Braaaiins For those nights you have to wander the neighborhood looking for her. |
| Neotacha | 02 Jun 2009 3:32 p.m. PST |
She's lovely, but personality is hard to tell in a single image. What's she like? Is she friendly or is she timid? Do her body parts all seem to be in scale with one another, or does she have enormous feet? What are the markings on her side like? How is she with the other cats? And why on Earth did you just adopt one at a time? Kittens are things that should come in kindles, not onesies. She'll drive the others crazy in short order. |

I think you should name her Special Patrol Group, or SPG. That was the name of Vivians hamster or whatever kind of rodent he had. I thought it more appropriate for a cat. Name's I've given to cats: Madb Shadow Enkidu Eriochrome Black T (that one didn't stick and my parents called him poopy.) |

a good name for ANY cat. |

Shadow. Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of a cat? I have named mine after Assyrian emperors, but Ashurbanipal ended up getting called Ratface. |

Just don't name her anything with a hard "Ch" or "Tss" sound in it – cats hate that sound. It would lose its effect as a "stop" or "don't go there" training noise if she thought it was her name

Our male tabby – who also happens to have a similar, slender build – is named "Baldr – Slayer of Productivity". My son named him after the Norse god of beauty, and he earned his sobriquet by being a puppy in cat's clothing. Give your moggy the name "Sif" (the wife of Thor) and then let her earn an appellation. Btw, you did say girl? Looking at the name of your cats, I take it you like human names for your cats and have named them after historical figures how about Nellie, after Nell Gwyn Bessie or Bess, after Queen Liz the first (she does have a bit of ginger on her tummy), Matilda, after Queen Matilda, could always shorten it to Tilly or Tilda Virginia? Ginnie? Winnie, female version of Winston Marnie, from the Hitchcock film You know I just realised all the names I suggested have an IE at the end. That is such an Aussie thing, lol hey how about Kylie, after the singing budgie? |

The cat found her way into a friend's house and he did not want a cat but was not prepared to throw her out on the streets. The original owners could not be traced so he asked us. I made the mistake of letting MH know. Her moniker so far is nosey and she is certainly a curious and intelligent cat. So far she is affectionate but has no trouble letting you know if she thinks you have crossed the line. For that reason I like the suggestion of an Elizabeth variation. But after a friend made the mistake of using the best names on pets before they started the family we try to reserve our favourites for potentional children. She is also very fast and loves her food. |

My daughter suggests Scittles, after the candy. |
| mweaver | 03 Jun 2009 5:10 a.m. PST |
"Her moniker so far is nosey and she is certainly a curious and intelligent cat." Perhaps "Amelia" after Amelia Earhart, then? Or perhaps name her after a famous female scientist/innovater? Marie Curie Dian Fossey ("Fossey" seems to work for a cat, plus, you would have an excuse to make gorilla grunts at her, always a good thing) Jane Goodall (you could make chimp noises!) Florence Nightingale Rachel Carson |

Floe, after "go with the flow or I will make you sorry". Intelligent cats have a way of getting revenge on humans in a roundabout way. |

Thanks for all the ideas
..I especially like Braaains (maybe for the next male cat) I think we are going with Minnie Why? She is striped and seems curious/mischievious just like Minnie the minx (Beano comic character from my childhood) link Also I may go with the Minie spelling after the Minie Ball so keeping the historical theme of our cats thanks all MH :-) |
