I was looking at some POD for my rules, plus putting together a history of a local school, on Lulu. My wife (school governor) found some indication it was a bit of a scam. Has anyone had any dealings with them?

I bought Ganesha Games' rules 'Song of Drums and Shakoes' on Lulu without a problem.

I don't think that they're a scam, per se, but I stopped using them after it was reported that the quality of books delivered in Europe were not up to the specs I'd paid for. I got this report from several customers (including Andrea of Ganesha Games who not only contacted me about the problem but took LuLu to task for it and got his money back from them rather than me).

They accused me of causing the problem by changing my file – I'd made no changes to my file and I found the answer failed to address why the US printed versions of my rules came out right while the European versions came out looking terrible. The icing on the cake was when LuLu began telling my customers in UK and Ireland that they didn't deliver to Europe (this despite multiple print sites in Europe).

I finally dropped them out of frustration and replaced LuLu ordered copies in Europe with copies I had printed by a more or less traditional print shop here in the US at my own cost.

I know that many, many people have used LuLu without the slightest hiccup, so my case may be a rare instance of failure on their part, but based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend them for anything major.
