Well, Buster's got company. Buster's 14yrs old, and he's got maybe another 2-3 years left if everything progresses the way it's looking like they will progress (the whole feline kidney thing.) So I felt we were in the market for a new fuzzball, and a neighbor's cat just had a litter. Three weeks old, weaned and box-trained, dewormed, et cetera. We adopted two girls, one for each of the kids, and both of calico coloration (Buster is a tuxedo cat.) It's been a full day, and so far Buster is aloof, like I knew he would be. Buster just wants to do his Buster thing (like we could ever stop him anyways) and after introductions, he really does not seem interested in the new additions at all. Well, besides the pleasant surprise of a new location to find kibble where it did not exist before. The cuties spent the day exploring the house and easily located their litter box. The kids named them Tilla and Tabby. Tilla is more tolerant of being picked up and carried around, likes to crawl into laps and play, attack socked feet, and seems overall the more sociable of the two. Tilla decided to spend the night downstairs on the couch I was reading on, nestled between some throw pillows instead of seeking her sister or finding comfort laying with anyone. Tabby, on the other hand, shows vocal displeasure at being picked up, evidently she wants to have four paws planted at all times. But she is still as playful, curious and exploratory as a kitten should be. Tabby crawled up the stairs, climbed into bed with my son and spent the whole night with him. |

Congrats on the new additions! And it's wise to adopt kittens in multiples, as they have someone with which to play and burn off some of that excess energy. Our sample size is a bit small, but it seems that the cats we adopted in groups do appear to be much better socialized than the singletons. |

Our next addition will likely be siblings, though my wife does not buy in quite yet and our cats are middle aged. Rnjoy your new fuzzy family members |

Congratulations! Few things in life are more fun than new kittens in the family. |

Very entertaining fare, these little ones are – although they don't have much endurance
they need an hour long nap recharge every 2-3 hours! Buster seems so BIG compared to these little ones, and I believe actually he is not as aloof as I thought
Last night he was on his regular sleeping routine, but he has apparently avoided them all day today. He'll realize soon enough that this is "life" now, and eventually, assert his place in the hierarchy, etc. |

"they need an hour long nap recharge every 2-3 hours" At three weeks, this is not at all surprising. That's still bottle-feeding age for cats, isn't it? |

i got my two kiddy cats as kittens to keep each other company. They hate each other. One is the Canadian seal hunter (ie bully) and the other is a harpseal (submissive and anable to fight back but she does kinda look like one too) I coulcb't give either ofg them up, but bother of them would be better of in single cat homes. |

We have a cat that would do very well in a single pet household. Very affectionate to humans but screams bloody murder if any of the other 9 look at her funny. Litter mates work well. |
