Well, I started the bad book thread, so a good book thread seemed appropriate. I'm looking forward to smstirling's next book in his "Dies the Fire" series. The premise of having electricity and explosives stop working for no known reason is silly, but the story is working well for me. A post Apocalyptic book without a real Apocalypse. |

Anything more from Pratchett, but especially "Raising Taxes" as the two Moist von Lipwig books to date were utterly superb even by his standards

The Flashman Civil War story. Alas, I am doomed to disappointment. |

Any of the above ! Or, the third in the trilogy of which _An Army At Dawn_ was the first volume. |

For awhile I was anxiously awaiting George R.R. Martin's "A Dance with Dragons", but all momentum in that series has pretty much died away for me at this point. I have been anxiously awaiting a new Elmore Leonard novel for a few years now – and one comes out tomorrow. Yea! I'm not sure anxiety enters into it, but I always look forward to new books by Lois Bujold, Pratchett, Jim Butcher, and John Sandford. To name a few. |

1) James Lee Burke's next Robicheaux book. 2) Butcher's next Dresden book. 3) Lamdin's next Lewrie book. 4) Some archaeologist finds Ptolemy's lost bio of Alexander the Great. Keep 'em up! |

Name of the Wind, Patrick Rothfuss. Best fantasy book I have read in the last few years. I just hate that his website says nothing about when this one will come |

Not a lot, sadly. More Uhtred! (Cornwell's "Saxon Chronicles") "Dance with Dragons", but like Mweaver, I'd have to re-excite myself about the series first. |

The next Wheel of Time, supposedly being finished for publication this year. |
Lee Brilleaux | 11 May 2009 7:55 p.m. PST |
"Bogbrush the Barbarian". The tale of a muscle-thewed barbarian warrior so stupid all the others notice. With educational bits, quizzes, and tips for making your way through life. Also guidance as to turnip recipes. It's sort of as if P.G Wodehouse was asked to rewrite Robert E. Howard for ten year olds with the bizarre hope of getting it on some school syllabus. Out September 2010. Order it now. I could use the money :) |

The Bulan-nama. The courtly history of the Ak-Khazars. Extra points if the translator manages to render the text as epic poetry. |

I _was_ waiting for "A Memory of Light", the 12th and final novel of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series. _However_ I understand that book 12 is actually being released as books 12-15. Regards, the Gorb |

But Howard, That sounds like Groo The Barbarian
Not that I wouldn't like to buy your take. |

Gods how I miss the days of getting to read a good book. I hardly have the time to look at the forums much less get involved in a book

The next Holdstock, the next Pratchett, any reprinted Manly Wade Wellman anyone cares to produce, the next Gabaldon. |

Anxiously awaiting the next Dresden Files also. They actually released the next book in the series about 6 months ahead of schedule. And I can't find out what is next up and when. Perhaps my googlfu is bad and someone can tell me when I will get my next Dresden fix. |

I always enjoy the Ian M Banks incarnation of Ian Banks, but I'll have to wait a while for another one I think. I still can't believe Julian Rathbone died. Less surprised by George MacDonald Fraser, but I'll miss Flashman. |

Picked up the new Sandford and Leonard novels this evening. |

My own? (I've been waiting to hear back from the agent who requested the whole thing last October. If I get an offer from him, he'll be a prize agent
but the wait is interminable.) Otherwise, I'm looking forward to a few paperback releases: Dragon and Liberator by Timothy Zahn Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik And I'm eagerly looking forward to Megan Whalen Turner's next Eugenides novel. Now, if someone would just reprint Edmond Hamilton & E.E. Smith in affordable versions easily obtained from bookstores, I'd welcome these, too! |
| Daffy Doug | 13 May 2009 3:34 p.m. PST |
Yeah, I am looking forward to my own too. I gotta write it first, though
