Haven't had a lot of reading time today, but did get 55 pages in. It's a quick read, and rather a lot of fun. The zombies kind of sneak up at you as you read.

Anyone know of the appropriate figures for such a game? Just slightly pre-Victorian clothes, although I guess Victorian would do. And zombies of the right era?

What a shame Austen never mentioned morris dancing, so I could promote the need for undead morris dancers.

I'm in the middle of reading it right now too. Very good book. I just love how many euphemisms she cam come up for zombies. I'm three quarters through though.

I might have to check this book out – I've been hearing a lot about it lately.

Just bought this one and another book that looks fun. "How to Survive a Horror Movie"

Seth Grahame-Smith did a good job capturing the flavor of Austen's writing in the bits he added.

You lot must read a tad faster than I do: "so many books, so little time" is my complaint….

I give it two thumbs up, too. It's especially good if you're already familiar with P&P (the book or the movie), but it's not essential.

I am visualizing zombie Morris Dancers. Pieces of rotted flesh flying off as they slap, stomp, twirl and clap. Gay little ribbons fluttering from exposed joints. Dances consisting of lurching, limping and tottering. Yikes!

Half way thur it myself, and happy to say when watching the real P&P movie I could keep up, remember character's names and annoy people with the "This is the part when the zombies came in in the book…" Glad everyone's digging it.

I think its Manky Degenerates for a euphemism for the zombies. A great name fpr wither punk band, or a rules set for a zombies game.

Neotacha12 May 2009 2:49 p.m. PST

Actually, I rather liked finally getting to 'manky degenerates'. The 'sorry stricken' and the 'sadly stricken' are just too normal. Manky degenerates sound like a lot of fun.

artslave, SOMEONE around here (I won't mention any names, but she has a post pretty close to this one) submitted Zombie and Skeleton Morris Dancers to the Liberty and Union League.

I am watching the first episode of Heroes season 4 and there is someone reading this book in it. That cracked me up.

On True Blood, Jason Stackhouse mentioned Oral History Of The Zombie War as well.

Interesting. I wonder what point they are trying to make, other than maybe promoting how cool zombies are.
