No wiki entry for my high school, which is now defunct (well, actually the system changed it into an 11-12 "senior" high school and changed the name. Building is still there and in use.) I can't think of anyone "famous" from the school, at least during my time or my mother's time teaching there. Guess I'll just have to be the first! |

Flintloque, as far as I know Professor Tyree was no longer there, but he was a real teacher. The philosphy and history departments did share the same building. At the intersection where you turn to choose which to go to was a pair of signs. One said TRUTH, the other said FACT. I didn't major in philosophy though. It was History. |

Neotacha- your thinking of John Riggins! When he woke up he said something like "Hey babe! How's it hangin?" to Justice Sandra Day O'conner. At least that is how I chose to remember it! The high school where I went sophomore year and my brother graduated: Leona Mitchell- opera singer. I beat her brother up in 9th grade. He started it! I think one of her brothers was involved with the radical MOVE group in Philly. The city burned a block down trying to smoke them out in 1985. Basketball coach Don Haskins – he coached Texas Western to the NCAA championship in the 1960's. This was the first team to have 5 black starters and win the title. They made a movie out of it a few years ago. Owen K Garriot- astronaut and father of the famous computer game designer. Mark and Brent Price- basketball players. Several NFL players- Jim Riley of the undefeated Dolphins, Roger Carr( didn't graduate from school) All-Pro WR for the 70's Colts, Ken Mendenhall, OL starter for 70's Colts. |

Sondra Locke, her husband Gordon Anderson and my older brother were charter members of my high school's forensic league. Later on,a new generation of club members sought to make their own mark by impressing Ms. Locke when she came home for the horse show. Cameron Watson made a semi-autobiographical movie of that attempt in his film "Our Very Own." It starred Keith Carradine,Allison Janney,Faith Prince, Cheryl Hines,Hilarie Burton,Jason Ritter,Dale Dickey,Beth Grant,Mary Badham (Scout in "To Kill a Mockingbird) and other excellent character actors including Autumn Reeser. Sabre6,you might be glad to know that your schoolmate proved to be talented, professional and one of the nicest, mature young ladies it has ever been my pleasure to know. (Her apartment during filming of the movie was across the hall from where we lived.) They must grow good people up your way. |
