not a fight john would win but who would you rather read ?
i think butcher is a more relaxed read but green with his characters is more fun .

so while i read both i would rather read about john taylor

1 vote for john taylor

I like the Dresdan books. I have never read the John Taylor books. I need more info on them. Who writes them?

kyoteblue14 Apr 2009 11:00 a.m. PST

Simon Green writes the John Taylor books.

Thanks Kyoteblue.

I tried to read one of his deathstalker books and simply couldn't get into it. One of the few books I ever never finished.

The John Taylor are the Nightside Books.

Butcher. No contest.

I didn't much care for the Nightside books. The main problem is that there is no consistency to how Nightside works – it operates however Greene needs it to operate at This Moment in Time. In Butcher's Dresden series, there are rules as to how magic works, the relationships between factions, etc. We may learn more as the series progresses, but the new material is consistent with the old material.

Also, Butcher is a better writer. I've never tried the Deathstalker books lazyox refers to, but I did try the Hawk and Fisher fantasy books. Good idea, but again the writing and character development struck me as mediocre. Didn't finish the series.

I read the first couple Nightside books and started the third, but never finished it. I just don't find him a gripping writer.
