Sounds nasty to me.

You are, of course, wrong.

Bacon is nature's most perfect food. It makes EVERYTHING better, simply by being Bacon.

Only Warlock13 Apr 2009 2:31 p.m. PST

LOL

This recipe does not indicate which kind of bacon.

American or Canadian?

Is it smoked with hickory or apple or some other wood?

These are important questions!

RavenscraftCybernetics13 Apr 2009 3:58 p.m. PST

bacon! the universal condiment.

GarrisonMiniatures13 Apr 2009 4:19 p.m. PST

Bacon, scrambled egg and mushrooms in a wrap with a maple syrup drizzle.

Nice.

It is perfectly true that bacon goes with everything. However, people need to be warned that not everything goes with bacon. The thought would be 'waste of bacon'.

I was once invited to dinner somewhere, tghe person decided to cook a Lakhsa (Malysian soup with coconut milk and spices)for dinner, but decided to try something new. Put bacon in it. I tried to tell him it wouldn't work. He asked he had I tasted it before, I said now, so he said I couldn't judge. So he went ahead and out bacon on the Lakhsa and it tasted like crap. We had to call out for Pizza,

Just a hint, bacon and coconut milk don't work together,

Just the fact that people are dumping bacon grease in their booze and drinking it is disgusting. And unhealthful.

You're just not trying hard enough.

I am in complete agreement with you. Booze is terrible and to waste something like bacon grease by combining it with such an awful substance is so disgusting and unhealthy that it borders on blasphemy. Not only do you endanger your liver, you endanger your immortal soul.

Well, I think bourbon is disgusting, so it's thumbs down from me. However, maple syrup and bacon go fabulously well together and if there was a good scotch involved I'd try it.

As for the bacon grease in the booze, the mixture is frozen to separate the two, so you're getting the flavor without the 'unhealthy fat'.

Laksa with bacon? No, no and more no – even ignoring the fact that it is a malaysian dish and most Malays are Muslim.

Laksa is one of my local favourites and there are at least three Laksa places within a five minute stroll of my house in Singapore.

My favourite is Ka Tong Laksa. Laksa is the only thing they do. You can get it in xiao (small), zhong (medium), or da (large) with the only variation being with or without minced cockles. The large bowl is $ Sing 6 (about $ US 4). Mmmm. Think I may have some tonight.

Well, I suppose it isn't much more disgusting than having bacon with that strange blue jelly they have in the Florida tourist joints.
I could see the point in using bourbon to deglaze the pan after cooking bacon if you wanted some sort of gravy but that's as close as I want to get.

what does that have to do with anything?

Whatisitgood4atwork14 Apr 2009 9:09 p.m. PST

Because it makes it very unlikely that bacon would find its way into their national dish.

I have to agree w/both Mrs. P and Neotacha…as much as I love bacon…there are times when it just won't fit!

richarDISNEY15 Apr 2009 7:56 a.m. PST

uuummm….. I hate to say this, but, we made this last weekend. Pretty decent-ish. Granted we also cut the amounts of bacon drippin's in a quarter. The flavors really did kinda mix well. But then again, bourbon does hide most inequities when brembeled with foods. (i.e. evens out)

Now the Bacon Martini recipe was horrible…. Never again…

Last Hussar03 May 2009 2:29 a.m. PST

The first thing I thought on reading the 'method' was "Freeze distilling the bourbon" – moonshine for Alaskan Rednecks.

Blasphemy! Bacon goes with everything.

Last Hussar26 May 2009 1:06 p.m. PST

No Fritz, if you do find something bacon doesn't go with then don't buy the something.
