i just got one of his older books "ghost"

and to be honest i was upset besides another example of him trying to ram his right wing politics down our throats there s a serious amount of unnecsary bdsm and rape fantasy pornography ..

Ghost has an interesting story behind it. You can read it here:

link

I'm sure it won't change your opinion, but it is some insight into the way books get written.

kyoteblue11 Apr 2009 4:36 p.m. PST

John Ringo is not for every one but he can tell a page turning story.

xxxxxxxxooooo11 Apr 2009 6:02 p.m. PST

Yeah, but after "Ghost" he lost me.

Even with the explanation.

YMMV

Mikhail Lerementov11 Apr 2009 6:24 p.m. PST

Same for me. A real page turner of a story ruined by unnecessary sex scenes. He should keep his fantasy's of having an entire sorority at his leather clad beck and call to himself.

lazyox11 Apr 2009 7:49 p.m. PST

i am sorry but i read ghost after i read centurian and you can tell his politics coming through i like his sci fi his looking glass books are great vorpal blade was fun . but ghost lost me i felt he was trying to push his sexual preferences the way he does his politics

he reminds me of the right wing version of the guy who wrote solo a book where the anti american goverment politics were really blatent

with ringo he push's a serious right wing agenda , and why does he hat hillary clinton so much ?

i could stomach the politics , but i am sorry the second part was basicly hard sadistic rape porn ,there should have been a warning .i am thinking of requesting haveing my libary to restrict it from general to adult .

And work on your capitalization, punctuation, and spelling skills.

"And work on your capitalization, punctuation, and spelling skills."

Why should i take an extra 5 minutes .To clean up my writing ? When you understood perfectly what i meant .If it was to the point i was not clear . I am sorry .

I have always thought .That this is an informal chat area .That people freely exchange ideas in a way that makes them comfortable.

kyoteblue12 Apr 2009 9:04 a.m. PST

There is that.

Well, lazyox, your reply was perfectly in keeping with your chosen TMP screen name.

Plenty of online reviews of his books, including Ghost. Amazon alone has a boatload. Pretty easy to read them and figure out what you are getting before you spend the dollars. Most of the reviews on Amazon mentin the same things you do.

That's an interesting assumption, lazy.

Shagnasty, did you understand what he was mumbling about?

AndrewGPaul12 Apr 2009 2:52 p.m. PST

On topic, this book appears to have spawned a minor meme, "OH JOHN RINGO, NO":

The author himself is in complete agreement:

sorta, kinda, like, ya know!

lazyox13 Apr 2009 4:30 a.m. PST

andrew thank you for that link ..

shaggy
sorta, kinda, like, ya know!

translates as yes,yes ,maybe, yes with the possibily of "like you know" ran together being a lite yes ,

Your line translated as i understood him ,with a little effort .with a slight undercut of sarcasim.

Think of it this way would the fact i speak with a thick new jersey accent upset you if we talked over a gaming table? or would you insist on proper Queens english ?

xxxxxxxxooooo13 Apr 2009 5:06 a.m. PST

Think of it this way…

Or think of it this way:
Yes, this is a place for casual communication, where absolute grammar and spelling are not essential. But don't you owe your fellow participants to at least meet them halfway? Why must we go all the way to accommodate you?

As per your example, my opponent has a thick jersey accent. I will make the effort to understand him, but he should follow style and structure rules enough that overcoming the difference is a shared responsibility.

And BTW lazyox – Don't you think it's a little inconsistent that you cannot be bothered to "take 5 minutes" to be a little more clear, and yet you repeatedly "take 5 minutes" to assert your right to be lazy?

Clearly, you have those "5 minutes" on your hands.

Connard Sage13 Apr 2009 5:59 a.m. PST

Leave the ox alone, he's a hopeless case. He's obviously happy to display his ignorance and arrogance to a wider audience.

Who are we to judge?

nazrat13 Apr 2009 7:37 a.m. PST

That, my friend, is a loaded question! 8)=
